For 9" round and 8" SQUARE pans
Cinzia Spatuzzi✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 9, 2023
I have not baked with them yet. I am sure, coming from Rose Levy Beranbaum they work very well.
I read the description and missed "square". Should not have assumed there was an adapter or someting to fit both 9" and 8" round pans.
Just pointing it out in case it matters to others.
Work well and pretty color.

I like that I don't have to wet them and then apply the soggy mess while I'm trying to pop a cake in the oven. I don't think they do a better job than the cheaper ones but they are much easier. They can also be stored ON THE PAN which IS heavenly! They're kind of dressing up my pans there. And they're pretty pink-colored, which is always a bonus. Smiles all around.

So thumbs up! I like them. I'm keeping and using them!!

Well done, Rose!!
Cake was great

I made a sour cream coffee cake and the strips worked wonderful. CAKE was a hit!
I did soak the Wilton strip before using it so that it was nice and wet

Purchased two of these cake strips on Amazon, and a package of the Wilton (the purple strips) at Walmart to test. Prepared a coconut cake and used the same 9"x 2" Nordic Ware cake pans, with the same batter, on the same shelf of the oven, at the same temperature and time. See photos for results. Also, I did soak the Wilton strip before using it so that it was nice and wet.
Summary: The Rose Levy Beranbaum Heavenly Cake Strip DOES outperform the Wilton product. (Actually, it blows the Wilton product out of the water!)

RLB Comments:
Pros: Easier to put on the pan since it's similar to a large rubber band and doesn't need to be soaked.. It fits well on the Nordic Ware 9"x2" pan and will fit the Nordic Ware 8"x2" pan if you tighten it with a clothespin. It's is easier to clean up after use. It yielded a tender, flat topped cake. Also, I didn't have a problem putting it on AFTER pouring the batter into the pan.
Con: It won't fit 1 1/2" deep cake pans.

The Wilton cake strip comments:
Pros: Less expensive. (I bought mine at Walmart.) It fits 1 1/2" deep cake pans, and is adjustable to both 8" and 9" cake pans.
Cons: After use it appears USED and a bit yucky. It retained a bit of moisture after use which makes me hesitant about putting it back into the drawer from which it came. I don't really want to spend time babysitting a cake strip. Quality is definitely not up to par with the RLB strip. The cake was NOT DONE and needed about 10 more minutes than the recipe required. (The RLB cooked at suggest time.) Cake looked flat, but the center collapsed (due to being undercooked) when removed from the oven. I ended up tossing this layer.

Picture 1- Side by side comparison of coconut cake layers. Strips are placed in front of the layer they supported. Note difference in color since the Wilton layer is not fully cooked.
Picture 2- I shined a flashlight across the surface of each layer to show how flat they are. This photo shows the layer using the RLB strip. Nice!
Picture 3- This is the flashlight test on the Wilton layer. The break in the middle is because the center of the cake has fallen. Layer is undercooked. (My dogs enjoyed a piece of this layer.)
Picture 4- The RLB cake strip does NOT fit 1 1/2" cake pans. Pan shown is a Wilton. It looks loose because the Wilton pans use much thinner metal than the NW pans. I plan on tossing my Wilton pans and go strictly with the Nordic Ware pans (purchased at Target.) Either brand will yield a decent cake, but the NW pans offer more consistent results and success.
Picture 5- RLB strip on an 8" Nordic Ware cake pan. The clothespin does not affect performance. (Before I went to cake strips I used clothespins on strips of wet cloth achieve the same effect. Worked well, but way too much hassle.)
Picture 6- Nordic Ware 9"x2" cake pan. RLB fits perfectly. I am SOLD!

I followed package direction for both products. Since the RLB product is easier to use, more sanitary, and yields a better finished product it's a no brainer for me. I know some of you will say, "well you need to do this, or that, or whatever. . ." but I'm baking a cake and prefer that to be a simple process. If it becomes a chore you've lost me.
Good, but not the best.

I had read that these are the best, but they actually don't seem to make my cakes as level as the ones I have that you have to soak in water. On the positive side, they are easy to put on the pans and easy to clean. Kind of expensive, though.
