For me, it was hunt or hang it up!

After 3 yrs without waterfowling due to a right shoulder progressively ravaged by RA, I broke down and at 68 yrs old, had a full replacement. A year later, (mid-season), my son and I were talking about the new line of Stoeger shotguns since Benelli took over ops ( he's a Benelli field rep). 10 days later, knowing I was always a pump gun guy, he showed up w/a new Stoeger P-3000 in composite camo and asked, "When ya wanna go?" First couple weeks I went twice a week-some moderate pain and some discoloration, but bearable I thought. Following week son took off work. First three days we shot limits. That nite, looking in the mirror, I knew the pain level was too high and the huge nearly black bruise and large bloodsack forming on my bicep meant something had to change or I was done. Obvious 1st step was a recoil pad, so after doing my home work I went for the decelerator. I call the difference "appreciable" because I appreciate more than I can express being able to continue hunting ducks/geese with my son again! And it wasn't even a close call-I don't even consider recoil anymore and my shooting improved a greatly! I later decided to shorten the LOP on the Stoeger-took off 3/8" from factory specs including the 1" for the decelerator and ordered a new decelerator in small. I then shot the stock cavity full of expanding foam, let it harden, trimmed and sanded exess flush, and installed new pad which fit like a glove, just like the first one-no slipping or movement on either. These are excellent products which I HIGHLY recommend! Thank you Pachmeyer!
Nice pad, I use it for military surplus. See compatibility in my review

I bought one of these after tearing 3 different Butler Creek slip on pads. Those are junk, avoid them. The rubber tears as you're putting it on.
This is a nice pad, much better quality than the Butler Creek. Much more comfortable and easier to slip on.
The medium pad fits the following surplus military rifles:
98 Mauser style rifles (Turk, Yugo, German are the ones I've tried so far)
Type 99 Arisaka
Mosin Nagant 91/30
Finn M39 Mosin Nagant
Egyptian Hakim 8mm semi auto
Enfield No1 MK 3

Good fit for a KSG

I have this installed on my KSG. Definitely made a difference in felt recoil. Shoulder feels fine after a long range session.
Shoot 'em up! Feel less kick.

I bought the small one and it works for my Remington 870 Tactical...but I think the medium may fit better. It does help soften any blow though. It helps you get the gun right in the shoulder pocket, a good cheek weld, and stays in place if you shoot it right. Oddly enough, if you shoot at a weird angle it makes the thing start to fall off so it helped me ensure I was shooting the gun correctly. I did 350 7.5 shot shells, 60 slug shells, and 100 buck shells over 4 days with no bruising, no tenderness. I recommend this product!
Browning Citori Lightning Field, 16ga (Med)

Excellent product. The medium fits the citori like a glove. Works like a champ. Really takes the bite out of heavy field loads BUT....
A few worthy points to take note of and they are,
1. It added an inch of length of pull and it really helped me realize how much I shoot better because of it but there is a downside. And that is it has tipped the balance of the gun towards the butt. I preferred the muzzle heavy design of the citori and this has changed the balance the gun.
2. In a skeet situation, the slip on pad is not a problem but in a upland hunting situation the pad has a tendency to grab your shirt due to its stickiness and/or from the slip on boot part of the pad. It's something to think about before purchasing. Three times in one day while quail hunting it grabbed my shirt upon mount.
3. It is a great product, it does the job well, and for a short term fix it worked perfectly. I will keep it just to have it on hand but I will be purchasing a grind to fit Pachmayr for a long term permanent solution.
