I have had this (20qt) stock pot for over 4 years now. We use it quite often, It still looks brand new. So easy to clean, has no scratches or dings - and we are not gentle with this pot. No warping either. Every time I am cooking with it I pat myself on the back for buying this brand. Some of the foods we have cooked in this pot are: chili, several types of soup, huge batches of creamed chipped beef- I even cooked a few venison roasts in it on the stovetop. None of the foods have stuck to the bottom of the pot, no burning. Many of the foods we cook
(bone broth, etc.) are left on the stove for over 18 hours. I do pressure canning, so this pot comes in handy for making large amounts of food to put in the pressure cooker. Compared to many other 20qt pots the price might seem a bit hefty"¦I can tell you it is worth every penny.
I will never have to buy a replacement. I really wish all of my pots were Tramontina. I definitely recommend this brand and the 20 qt is fantastic!

I needed to replace my old aluminum 12 qt. stockpot with a high quality stainless steel pot because I now have an induction stovetop. I have always liked the quality and price of the Tramontina brand, so it is my go-to brand. I often make a huge batch of chili or soup at home to feed a big crowd at the family cabin which is a 4 hour car trip away, so in addition to needing to be of high quality, fitting into my cooler is a requirement.
Amazon sells 2 different 12 quart Tramontina stockpots: this $100 "Gourmet" pot and their $130 Prima" pot Tramontina Prima 12 Quart 18/10 Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Base Covered Stock Pot . Deciding which one to buy was frustrating because the product dimensions provided by Amazon for both pots don't indicate which measurement is the width/diameter and which is the height. Since the "Prima's" weight is 7.5 lbs compared to the "Gourmet's" 6.5 lbs, and it is more expensive I assumed its quality must be better, so I decided to order it. Unfortunately, when I received the pot I discovered the "Prima" is too wide to fit in my cooler. So, I decided to call the Tramontina company in Texas for more information. They told me both pots are of the same quality, and that the "Gourmet" pot is lighter and costs less because its dimensions require less steel to make. So I ordered the "Gourmet" pot, and it fits in my cooler! And I can confirm that its quality is the same as the "Prima". I am keeping the "Gourmet" pot and returning the "Prima" pot.
I noticed that the people who answered the size related questions all varied in their answers. So, in case you have space limitations, such as the cabinet you are going to store your 12 qt. stockpot in, or based on the dimensions of your cooler, here are the exact exterior and interior dimensions of both pots:
The "Prima" has a domed lid, a wide easy-pour lip and a high quality 1/2" thick Tri-ply bottom. Its dimensions are:
Exterior Height: 7 7/8" w/o lid; 9 3/4" w/ lid on (7 7/8" when the lid is stored in the pot upside down)
Exterior width: 12 1/4" edge to edge excluding handles; 15 1/4" including handles
Interior height: 7 3/8"
Interior width: 11"
The "Gourmet" has a flat lid, a narrower easy-pour lip, and the same high quality 1/2" thick Tri-ply bottom. Its dimensions are:
Exterior Height: 9 1/4" w/o lid; 10 1/2" w/ lid on (9 1/4" when the lid is stored on the pot upside down)
Exterior width: 10 3/4" edge to edge excluding handles; 14 1/4" including handles
Interior height: 8 3/4"
Interior width: 10 1/4"
The only other differences between the "Prima" and the "Gourmet" pots seem to be in their design. The Prima has a domed lid, and a wider easy-pour lid, while the "Gourmet" has a flat lid and a narrower pouring lip. The handles on the two pots are different, and the exterior finish differ slightly, but those differences are only cosmetic. I haven't used the "Gourmet" pot yet, but I am sure it will perform as well as my Tramontina 6-Qt 4-Piece Multi-Cooker set, which I have had for many years, because the quality seems to be comparable.

Great little pot

Great pot for pasta. It's perfect for the size we need. Boils faster than other pot I own.
Make sure you use "Bar Keepers Friend" for cleaning your cooker inside.

This is a very nice, heavy duty stock pot. I had a little trouble getting something that looked like pitting on the bottom when I started using this, and I only use it for boiling water.
I tried using a green scratch pad with dish soap and that cleaned the bottom, but it always had to be scrubbed after each use.
Now, I've found the solution to my problem - I just use "'Bar Keeper's Friend" to clean the inside. It works so much better than the green scratch pad and dish soap; and inside on the bottom, the surface is now smooth like glass. I'm still going to clean it each time after using it, but Bar Keeper's Friend keeps it like new.

I’m a Fan of this Brand

I needed a small stockpot and this one is perfect. It's a huge improvement on my previous (larger) one by Calphalon, which is also stainless steel. I've struggled to adjust to the glass cooktop in my new home. My old pot took a long time to boil water and would stop boiling when I added noodles, etc. I had to put the lid back on and it still took 3-4 minutes to get back to a rolling boil. I don't have that issue with this pot at all. The attachable strainer is just a bonus. It's a very smart design. I have a skillet by this brand as well, and I am quickly becoming a fan. As I replace pots and pans in the future, I will look to Tramatoria.
