Our Plummer suggested using this system because, our water was coming in brown frequently. Especially when we had heavy rain and street/road construction. We have to replace it more often than most people. I can tell replacement time is near when our house water pressure is low. So far this is an excellent product and we have recommended it to our neighbors.

I use this filter in front of my expensive 3M AP917HD-S to filter out the majority of the contaminants and to make the 3M filter last far, far longer. I am on a private well for all of my water, and as you can see from my photo this filter is doing its job. This represents about 3 months of use. I also use 2 pressure gauges to show the pressure drop across my 2 filters. When the drop becomes excessive I replace this filter and then only change out the expensive 3M filter once per year.

About a year later, saved me a trip to the plumbing store. Great filter. I also have an older blue canister . The plumbing store could or would not not get the gasket that should be changed with the filter replacement. Found that on Amazon instead of having to purchase and instal a new unit.
