Worth the Cost
m gruebmeyerSeptember 27, 2016
I felt uneasy buying it, being so expensive for what it is, but the results were more than worth the cost! I had a wedding in an old house foyer where dark eyes could have been all that happened (besides dark, period) but one of these on a light stand near the couple and one on a bracket on my camera worked out great. Flattering, even lighting and n
o shadows from my subjects!
Love this diffuser
JEANIE M. ROSEJune 8, 2015
Love this diffuser. I am relatively new to photography & learning to use a speed light. I thought that would take care of all my lighting issues, but the eyes still looked funny. I tried this diffuser & it made a huge difference. I was so happy to find my photos looked almost professional. I had been thinking of purchasing this because it was recommended to me by a professional photographer. I consider myself an advanced hobbiest & am still trying to decide which accessories I need. This is definitely one I would include as essential.
Better than a softbox or bounce card
AllanAugust 10, 2013
I bought this over a softbox that was cumbersome to carry around and attach when people were waiting to take pictures. It's a great accessory to carry around and has proven itself very useful especially in low/poor light situations where the need to eliminate shadows is needed.

It diffuses light way better than the a softbox or bounce card and noticed that it cast light slightly better than a diffuser cap focusing better on the subject. I found it better for outdoor shooting with a scenic background better than portrait shots. If you are strapped for cash, get the diffuser cap. If you are hobbyist that likes to take good quality pictures, get this. I did get a chance to try out the lightsphere II and its a step up from this as well. If not too sure, go into a camera store and try them out and see what best fits your needs.
Must have

This product is fairly simple in it's design but does wonders when used in your photography. Creativity helps but this product enhances it. I was very excited to use this diffuser. I saw the photographers at World of Coke in Atlanta using them. This is how I discovered it. They were nice enough to let me look at it and where they found it. One guy was willing to let me take a few shots with it on my camera. I was sold.

It came nicely packaged and on time (early actually by 1 day) very happy about that. It comes with a strap already on it. Also you get a black rubber band. This is used to wrap around your speedlight to prevent it from sliding off. Gives it something to grip. It is a huge diffuser and it's almost comedic looking but it gets the job done and done right.

I did notice some color variation but you can correct it by adjusting your white balance and post production editing. Once you get a feel for how it will react to your camera and speedlight settings you make, it's pretty easy. I like how it evenly distributes the light and gives you nice soft edges on your shadows you get from it. I actually bought two of them and my other friends are begging me to tell them where I got it haha. Awesome product.
little over rated

Honestly, I thought this was going to be a drastic improvement over bounce cards or soft boxes.. In reality, it is just slightly better than those two options but does spread light better I must say.

For a group or room full of people it works good and diffuses light enough that it doesnt seem so harsh as a direct flash would be or even bouncing a flash forward.. With the cap over top of it, you will find very little light distribution from it, so dont expect much bounce from that.. You can remove the top if you wish and it makes for some interesting photos doing it that way..

The mfg did a great job on the attachment process to your flash.. it's fitted with a velcro like belt and you get a rubbery like huge rubberband thing to position on the flash head itself.. so, you can rest assured, the thing will be snug and secure.. but I wouldnt recommend holding your camera by the tupperware itself if your sporting a D800, D4, or anything weighing more than your head.

So in conclusion, expect better than average results over a softbox or bounce card in most cases.. But you probably could've just as easily ripped the top off a 2 liter coke bottle and duct taped it to your flash for less than $1.50 :)
