After listening to the tribute album recently done by Gillian Welch and others, this sounds a little hokey to me. But kudos to Cash for making a much needed statement in song!

This is one of JC's early recordings. IMO, a classic!

When a very young women I heard Johnny Cash Sing Talking Leads & it brought tears to my eyes. His whole Indian Album should be something that every child has the privilege of hearing. Maybe if they did & they put other races in the place of an Indian this country would stop being so prejudice. We treated the Indian people like animals, we enslaved the colored race & God only knows what we have done and are still doing to people that may be different. I am white. A mother, grandmother & wife. So I am not asking for special treatment. I just want our country to start treating everybody with respect.

This CD did not disappoint. I knew a Black autoworker from Pontiac Michigan that told me how Johnny Cash stood up for him when Johnny worked on the assembly line next to him, long before he became a Star. Johnny had an instinctive empathy for the downtrodden, which was on display here on this CD.
