When I ordered this shoe I thought it was your Harry II 1670-205 size 9M and of course when I received it found in particular than the sole is very different. I have been buying and wearing the HARRY II for more than 20 years, always buying it your store in Lancaster, PA. After looking on line for them, I called Lancaster Store (717-393-2651) to find the HARRY II is no longer manufactured? I'm sorry to hear that and would like to know what you recommend to replace it that has a rubber(?) synthetic scored sole for traction (not the very smooth sole that I can only wear in good weather of the Layton). I wore these shoes for a few hours on Christmas and I didn't have any significant problems with them. The shoes felt comfortable but they will require some breaking in.

I usually wear a 7.5 in other brands, but definitely had to go a full size up to 8.5 as was suggested by Amazon.
Most of the negative reviews I have read about these shoes seem to be that the buyer made the mistake of not sizing up from their normal shoe size. You almost certainly need to size up when ordering these shoes. As others have said these shoes look great out of the box but be warned that they are snug. Having said that, my heels do tend to slide when I walk with these shoes so they're a bit long at the heel.This is a minor criticism since its nothing I can't fix with slightly thicker socks.

In addition the color says "burgundy" but they are more of a cordovan color I think. It would be nice to see a true burgundy (oxblood) pair of these shoes.

Excellent customer service! The first pair I order sizes was off: the right side fit perfectly but the left was too large. I tried to make the best of it because I hate returning things but no matter what I tried I could not make it work. Although the sole of the shoes were now scuffed up I was able to return them no questions asked and the second pair I bought fit perfectly. The added bonus was the price, about 35% cheaper than the brick and mortar in my area. The last pair of these shoes I purchased lasted 10 years so I don't suppose that I will be buying these again any time soon, but when I do you can be sure I will coming back to this vendor.

Have worn Bass shoes since a teenager (Mid 1960's Bass Weejuns). Currently have two pair of dock shoes and soft casual kilt/tassels which I bought in an outlet store in Newnan, Ga.Have been very well satisfied with the quality and fit. Bought these online. First pair was too small, even though the sizing was exactly the same as the four pair I already have. The shipper/merchant did an excellent job correcting the situation. I lay this complaint solely at the door of the Bass Shoe manufacturers. These shoes were very low quality. Stiff as a board. and not very well made. The left shoe fits fine, the right shoe not so much. I thought they might improve with wear. Not to be, Guess I need to see if Rockport has gone down the tubes also.I won't be buying any Bass, at least not online , without trying them on first.

These shoes were 10% less purchased elsewhere. Price was a secondary motivation for me. I've had this brand and style of shoe in the past and I liked it. I've pretty much have stuck to another brand or two for years and after a couple of attempts to buy this brand and style again, gave up searching. I am fairly happy with the shoes. I've only worn them twice, so yes your going to experience some stiffness and squeaking as you break them end. The good news is those symptoms go away after you've worn them a couple of times. The soles are sewn to the shoe, not glued. I prefer that anytime. The shoe is all leather from what I can tell. If not it's a heck of a substitute. The colors are deep and the shoes are extremely shinny. Which is good because that's the way I roll. You may want to try a couple types of sock if your foot is a little to narrow for the standard D size like me. The first time I wore them I chose a fairly thick sock. I experienced a pretty tight fit, so when I wore them again I chose a thinner sock and by mid-day my heel would sort of lift out of them. So experiment a little if that's an issue. The burgundy ones do appear a little reddish. Don't fret about that. Over a couple of polishes with Cordovan polish they will darken up.. Great buy, a strong recommend buy! A++
