You need this for setting up. after you use this and set a sticker on your gouges and skews its a sinch to grind every time saving your metal from over grinding.

I'm a long time wood worker, but relatively new to turning. The jig made it super easy to setup and sharpen my lathe chisels. The instructions are ok at getting you started, but I would recommend heading to the Tormek website to get the full version of the instructions for this jig. There are also good videos on Youtube of people setting up this jig.
