Works for the second time

Steering rack started leaking on left side at 160,000 miles. 5 years later at 206,000 miles started leaking on right side. Added some Stop Leak. The rack stopped leaking. Have not used the whole large bottle so I expect some additional fluid loss but will add more Stop Leak as per directions. Very happy with the results. Much better than tearing out and exchanging the rack on a 25 year old car.
Works Amazing

A temporary fix, but an effective one.

This product, like most other Lucas products, has a mixed bag sort of reputation. It's often touted as a last-resort sort of fix and it's often stated that it would be cheaper to just 'fix it right'.
However, when our Mercury Mountaineer developed a leaking power steering pressure line, due to what I assume to be a bad o-ring, this product did, after about 1.5 quart bottles, start to really slow the leak. Specifically, we went from losing enough power steering fluid in a 10 mile trip to have lost all power assist to being able to drive 2-300 miles without losing enough to even notice any pump noise.
It definitely reduces pump noise, it definitely, eventually slows leaks. It's definitely thick and that's probably where a lot of it's ability comes from, sheer viscosity. Overall I would recommend this as a last-ditch effort or temporary band-aid sort of fix for leaks. Some other reviews have even reported that it let them run another year on a previously bad or leaky pump. I can't say we had that great of success with it but it definitely slowed the leak.

The Honda dealer asked for $2500 to replace the rack to stop the power steering leak 3 years ago. I am still good with this.
Pros
Life saver
Cons
You need to ensure the fluid is good every year. It got thickened once and I had to replace it.
