No nonsense work blade. High quality steel that takes a razor sharp edge if necessary and stands up to to hard use that borders on abuse. The blade is good on its own as a basic machete. The potential to be great is there as long as you're willing to spend a few mins to tweak it to your liking. Both the blade and handle are really good as a tough outdoorsmen's tool. Handle is a great material I've had on other machetes. Buyers can completely customize to their preference or leave as is for a basic little beast of a blade.

Upon recieving the machete my initial impression was that it appeared well made and sturdy! The fit and finish are good! It felt good in my hand and was well balanced! The edge was not overly sharp so with a bit of filing with a bastard file and diamond stone I was able to get a nice edge on it! I like the size! I purchased the shorter version so I could attach to my pack for camping! I took the machete for a five day camping trip and it performed flawlessly! It cut very well and I had no problem cutting wood up to approx. four inch! I didnt attempt anything thicker! Not that I didnt think it would cut it! I just didnt have any need to attempt it! Overall I am very pleased with the product! The price was very reasonable and American made to boot! What more could you ask for!

just got this machete today in the mail, doesnt come with a sheath but i already knew that. very high quality machete especially for the price. it is 1095 high carbon steel so its gonna be tough to put an edge on it, but the edge will definately last. Did not come with a good edge on it, but most reviews say it doesnt anyways so i expected that as well, no problem for me, ill just take it to my worksharp later and put a mean edge on it. it is a thick machete, very sturdy, i feel that you will be able to beat the tar out of this machete and it will still hold up. I have heard the handle is to big, but it fits my hand perfect, i have really big hands so no biggie for me, although i can see why people would say its too big, kind of squared handle. it is full tang, but it looks like the tang is a little rusted or dirty. has some scratches on the handle and blade. the tip of the blade is not sharp at all, basically blunt. with a little work, this machete will be very very good:) i love the ontario knife company!

Just the length I need for picnics when I need to chop up some wood. Sharpens easily using the fiskars axe sharpener. As a chopper this does not need to be razor sharp. I also had to reshape the handle a bit. Would have been a 5 star rated product if it came sharp and if it had a good purchase. I highly recommend this product.

I really like this product,1095 is my favorite high carbon steel and ontario knife company one of the best commercial blade manufacturers in the good old USA. the blade is one eighth inch thick,perfect for its 12 inch length. After putting a convex grind on the edge i put this baby to the test. Nearly an hour into chopping and splitting wood using a baton on the back edge of the blade(the baton made of wood of course)the machete was still going strong,handle tight, edge only slightly dulled.I made a leather sheath for it and now it accompanies me and miss Alice on our weekly treks in the rockies. The price was right, the product well made, nothing fancy, no bells or whisels, PERFECT! I love it!!!!THANKS!! DB.
