My wife and I run an online business selling nail polish. As you can imagine, color accuracy is a MUST! Over the past 3 years I've tried every conceivable means of getting just the right lighting to capture the shade exactly as you see it with the naked eye; some colors more challenging than others. The MS20 was my last hope. I own a 5+ year old Nikon D80 (10 mp) that takes great pics, but for some reason, no matter what configuration of lighting and various settings on the camera, I was unable to get accurate pics without literally hours of editing.

Enter the MS20. From box to ready it took me about 40 minutes to set up. From there, I set the camera to the recommended starting config (ISO 200, f/5.6, and a shutter speed of 1/15 sec) and went to snapping. First the blues and reds (since they've given me the most trouble in the past) and then others. I took the images straight from the SD card to the computer and was amazed to find that the color accuracy was SPOT ON and I had to do nothing to correct the background color; it was pure white. NOTE: I did add the AL-1 light when I ordered this to provide backlighting of the object and use as a fill light. And the combination was superb. No further adjustments or edits necessary. I now need to take pics of all the colors and update our website.

Bottom line: Anyone looking for a reasonably priced lighting setup for product photography should absolutely invest in this product. Just make sure your product dimensions don't exceed the height of the MS20. Of course, there is the larger model available for bigger products. I would recommend this to everyone!
So far I love it...

So far I love it. Bought this to for home use (pics for websites, blogging, creative photography, etc...) and for use with a small photography club I have started. Haven't gotten to play with it as much as I would like, but so far it is perfect. My only complaints are that the reflectors break easily (one of my kids ripped off the cardboard back in a matter of seconds before I even knew what was happening, working on getting it replaced) and the tabs on the plastic piece where you insert the bulb break EASILY. So, I have some broken tabs, but it is still holding for now. That having been said, it is nice though and meets my needs. I do wish it was taller. I was afraid to go any bigger at this time, but I have found I can't even have a small/medium size vase filled with flowers sit on this thing without the flowers reaching over the top. But again, look at the measurements before you buy and think of what you want to use it for. For taking pics of food or other small items it is great. I like it so much that if I could do it over again, I would have gone even taller (pretty sure they sell taller ones) -I prefer to buy exactly what I need and want once, rather than upgrade later, but oh well.

I will also add that a new friend was impressed with this set-up, and is looking to get one after having rigged their own little studio at home up until now. I like it, I do recommend it, just be prepared to be careful with the fragile parts and don't let you any little ones near the reflectors, or it could be trashed in a split second.
fantastic photo studio!

easily one of the best photo studios I've ever had the chance to use.

I now am a proud owner and love it! please don't mind the negative reviews. The guy complaining about the product not including a tripod and photography lessons is freakin' hilarious...

with that said, it's really easy to set up and to use. All of the items in the description were included and I couldn't be happier.

I have already taken shots of my work and am more than pleased and could not achieve these results in typical cloth-like photobooths/studios.

After extensive research, this was the one I wanted for the longest time and I paid the high premium for this.

my only concern would be with the shell that goes over the Phillips bulb. I don't like how some of the plastic tabs that click into the enclosure just broke off. I only broke two and now I'm super careful for when I have to remove it. I am a bit dissapointed, but the instructional video said that, they will probably break, but i don't agree with that and would hope to get a replacement sent to me cause I really enjoy this.

and despite those two tiny plastic tabs that click into the enclosure of the bulb breaking, it didn't hinder the actual use and everything worked soooooooo well.

the second issue I have with this is it didn't provide spare screws, nuts and thumb screws. These things are tiny and some extras would have been nice... besides that. I really really enjoy this product, the tiny plastic tabs breaking is not a big deal, but I would like a replacement sent.

this is fantastic, I'd like to see another photo studio match this one.

I'm a photographer that was looking for a tabletop studio for shooting small product. I went to the search engine for the Internet and typed in tabletop studio and as always a multitude of options came up. I began looking at a variety of tabletop studio options and ran across a product that had a coved base offered by My Studio and began reading and doing research on the product. I was directed to a variety of YouTube clips on the product and after watching the first clip it was clear that My Studio was not an ordinary company. They were very detail oriented and offered a tremendous amount of information not only about their product but how to apply your specific project to their product. In looking at pricing options and found that Amazon was the best deal. Not only was it competitively priced but being a Prime member shipping was free. I received the product two days after ordering it and just like the video everything came very neatly packaged exactly as it was explained in the video. I open the instructions and follow the step-by-step procedure and in no time my studio was set up. Once again not only did they provide a great product but the instructions made it simple to assemble. In addition they included two pages of camera tips and settings for great product photos. This product makes the simplest photos look professional, even ones taken with my iPhone. I couldn't be happier with my studio and would highly recommend their products for anyone doing tabletop photography.

A very good starting point.

First off - its not a Bogen-Manfrotto. But then again - its not $600.
I'm a graphic designer who takes a lot of his own photos, to the extend of designing and building a couple of product-imaging studios for kinda big names (watches of a Scandinavian theme, hint, hint - for one). I've purchased, set up and used the "industry standard" Bogen tables and lighting for a few thousand product shots. This little corner and light are on par with the "professional" stuff for over 90% of the things I've shot.

Well packaged, promptly shipped. Read the instructions for assembly - but it goes together very well, and is solid once assembled.

This kit is a very good starting point -- but you will quickly "need" a few more pieces.

This size is perfect for items up to about 12" square.

Take the time to watch the video - if you've never shot using an infinite wall or table then you will find it invaluable.
You WILL want a tripod. There is no point of lighting a product to perfection - then screwing it up by shooting handheld and shakey.
Experiment before you start trying to shoot "production" shots - there are some basic lighting and posing concepts that are easier to learn by doing it yourself and "playing". Find some shots from the web or magazines that your'd like to emulate - and try to reproduce them using your own products.
You will want some supplemental lighting - bouncing a big diffuse light off the back, behind the product will really brighten up your shots. Play with bouncing light onto specific parts of your product to bring out highlights. The included bounce cards are serviceable.
Mainly though - just play. You will absolutely NOT shoot great shots on the first, or even 50th try. But if you keep trying different things (and spend some time on YouTube) - you will have pro quality shots before you know it.

One thing to remember as you are getting frustrated by the process (and you will) -- anymore, MOST of the work in product photography is in Photoshop, compositing a bunch of shots, each capturing a specific part of the product as you'd like it. A watch photo would be 10 minutes of posing it, 10 minutes of taking a bunch of photos - each with different lighting and highlighting, and an hour stitching it all together in PS.
