I grew up eating what we called Louisiana cane syrup made from locally grown sugar cane by a syrup maker just down the road. We kept a syrup pitcher on the kitchen table at all meals. This is exactly the same. Last of the Mohicans as far as I know. The local syrup is long gone. All other is flavored corn syrup. Thanks, Steen's.
Family favorite when it comes to syrups

Bought this for my niece since it's not available in her local grocery store, and had it shipped to her. She loves making biscuits and topping them with Steen's (has to be Steen's) cane syrup!
A Delicacy from South Louisiana.

This is the stuff. The farther you get from south Louisiana the harder it is to find. Buy the cans and just transfer it to a jar. My first attempt to get some Steen's in a bottle arrived broken (what a mess!) I use it in place of corn syrup and molasses in everything that calls for it and for biscuits and waffles, etc. Steen's makes the best pecan pies. Once you try it you'll not go back.
an Elvis Presley kinda thing

Love it! Tastes better than (in order from bad to good) molasses, Karo corn syrup, Mrs Butterworths, Pure Maple Grade A, Pure Maple Grade B (which tastes better than grade A if you can find it).I recommend biting the bullet and buying one 16oz jar, and then refilling from the more economical 12oz cans. Try an english muffin, buttered and peanut-buttered while hot enough to melt both, then pour Steens over the top. OMG. It's like an Elvis Presley kinda thing.
Great Syrup!

I love this syrup. Thanks to the reviews of other posters I finally figured out what ingredient was missing from my pecan pies. While the pies are good, the taste never quite matched the ones I remember from my childhood in Texas. This syrup is also great on pancakes since its not as sweet as maple syrup (which I also love). No more yucky corn syrup.
