Bought this for my 4 year old Grandson. He enjoys playing with it but it's a bit complicated for him to know how to change from one activity to another, so it does require adult supervision at times. Once explained and shown to him, he picked it up rather quickly but one has to have patience when attempting to sort out all the activities. Bottom line, it is fun, well worth the money and if I hold onto my outdated OP system on my computer, I can see him having fun with it for quite a number of years because the software purchased ( separately from another online source) allows the user to grow with it in age and understanding level. I would only buy this is you had already purchased the software because the manufacturer is no longer making any software.

We purchased this keyboard for our 27 month old. We are very pleased with the results in advancement so far. Firstly, these programs aren't necessarily as elite as leapfrog, as I saw a previous bad review about...BUT...this keyboard teaches a lot with the childs dexterity with learning to look at the screen while the hand is doing another thing. A few days my son would only look at the pen on the drawing board when drawing, then look up at the screen occasionally. Now in the art/drawing portion of the programs, he is looking directly at the screen while his hand is drawing with the pen on the keyboard. This to me and my husband is BIG progress for a less than 2 and a half year old. There are many things to keep the child interested in. Great investment overall. Also...I encourage to get more programs than the one it comes with. Learning with a favorite character (Dora, Elmo, etc) seems to be very beneficial. The keyboard is built well, durable, and very child friendly.

I bought this toy as a Christmas present and saw on the pictures that other cd's (games) could be purchased at a later date. When I went to buy the additional cd's I could not find any. Fisher Price no longer makes the cd's. Fisher Prices puts the value of the cd's under twenty dollars (in case they block the amount go here [...]. However, on amazon's website and ebay the cd's are being sold for more than five times their worth. I feel completely taken advantage of. Amazon should disclose that the cd's are no longer in production and being sold as a rip-off.

When you turn on the computer your child can see that there are other cd's available but they cannot click to play. Nice way to make them want something that is unavailable. COMPLETELY ANNOYED BY THIS PURCHASE!

I got this toy for our 3.5 year old daughter. It took about 15 minutes to teach her how to use the stylus pen that functions as a mouse. In particular, getting her to realize you had to push down on the pen in order to "click" on items on the screen like you would with a mouse took a while. So far we just have the included game; the best part by far has been the painting game. She figured out pretty quick how to change the color of her pen and really enjoyed drawing. Our daughter typically has a short attention span with a toy so I was very impressed when she played with this for over 30 minutes. She now asks to play with this every day.

On the down side, they've apparently discontinued this product and the games. Now the games are selling for $40-$80 new here on Amazon and even $30+ used on EBay. Sorry but it's not THAT good -we'll be getting an Innotab at those prices....hopes this helps folks out.

I bought this for my 4-year-old and we both adore it. She is finally learning to use a computer appropriately. Interestingly, we've both learned from it (guess I'm NOT smarter than a 5th grader because there were some science facts that were new to me). It covers all of the major educational components for the age group: reading, writing, math, music, art, and science. The only area that neither of us seem to have much interest in is music; she did that once and never had a desire to try it again. Generally, it's so much fun that I almost want to play with it myself, particularly with the additional CDs. There are only two drawbacks to this toy, and these are things that I don't think can be controlled. For one, the CDs are very difficult to locate, and can be more than twice as expensive than the system itself. I'm actually quite surprised that Fisher Price hasn't invested more time in developing more of these and maintaining it on the market. The other issue is that for the writing pad, you have to hold the pen in a certain way and press down rather hard. I think that's promoting poor pencil grip in kids, as I can see them learning to hold pencils incorrectly, applying way too much pressure, and breaking pencil leads regularly. But I don't know how you can maintain the writing pad's sensitivity while simultaneously ensuring that the system is kid-tough. Overall, I am so pleased that I bought this, and expect that it will maintain her interest for longer than most of her toys.
