Best option for PVC fence if you want to lock with code
Amazon Customer•August 29, 2018
I just purchased it. I installed it on a PVC fence door. I had to do some small adjustments on the door like add wood in the inside. I purchased the transformer and the remote separately. I put in rechargable batteries so that the electric will constantly recharge (you can purchase a solar power option if you like, but my house is already solar powered so I ran electric) it is Perfect for what I wanted and blocks entrance to my side yard. Now I have a option to go in with a code and a remote control button. So far I love it.
9/15/2018 - UPDATE: The keypad went bad after a week. Amazon replaced it no Problem. If it breaks down again I will post it. I believe it was just a bad board from the factory because the Com - Power was never working on the Board so I used direct and I guess it didnt last long. The replacement everything worked.

Just installed my unit on my side wooden gate. Thanks to all the reviews, i was able to install it in about 3 hours. It shipped in 2 days and came with extra parts? Because of the reviews, I also purchased a 2 year warranty just in case. After installing the batteries I fired it up and it works great. I understand the issue with the lock hook not retracting if there is any pressure on the pin. So far I don't have the problem, but if I do I will probably do what others did and glue a magnet to the receiver so it will "pull" the door all the way shut. I also like that the buttons light up "Reddish" color so you can see at night. Very nice looking unit;I just hope it last a while. Any issues I will up date.
Worked great... for all of 9 months. :/

I really REALLY liked this lock. But unfortunately, I have to score this one down to two stars as it bellied-up on me in only 9 months. Actually, the solenoid lock and doorbell switch are fine... but the key pad - which by the way is the most expensive part... no longer works. Well, the keypad works, and will let anyone in by pressing any button on the keypad at this point. I've reset the keypad to no avail.
There wasn't any misuse, nothing to void the warranty, etc... just one day went to replace the alkaline batteries I've always used (Amazon Basics) and it wouldn't respond to my codes. I reset it so the Master code is 1234 again, and when you press 1 2 3 4, it will unlock the solenoid as it should. Press 4-9 and it unlocks it as well. It doesn't respond to the doorbell switch (or any switch for that matter) so it's basically a $190 waste.
I will retrofit my gate for a mechanical push-button lock and say the heck to over-priced fancy stuff. Too bad for GTO... I was about to dump $1100 for a double mule-gate opener for my other gate. Eh... I don't think so now. Sorry, GTO. :(

Highly recommended, used on a wood fence for our patio

Lock performs just as expected. My husband installed it to a wood fence, so that we wouldn't have to manage locking our fence with a padlock. It's battery operated, so no additional power supply is needed. Only issue was that we were missing instructions and even the ones available online weren't super clear. But, we figured it out. Final result: looks awesome and functions extremely well. Highly recommended!
First Impressions

I purchased this product a few weeks ago and have only just installed it, so I can't advise on its longevity. What I can say is that once installed I was very impressed with how it operates. We have a granny flat with small courtyard that has a gate which opens directly on to the street. The Mighty Mule has allowed us to have a 'doorbell' like opening easily installed inside the house, so the gate can be opened without even leaving the flat, which is perfect for my 94 year old mother-in-law who has restricted mobility. It only stays unlocked for a maximum of 9 seconds, which is excellent for security, but a little longer to allow her to open the gate and walk out to it when leaving the home would have been good. Trusting it will have a long life, it appears to be an excellent option for keyless entry and easy exit.
