Mixed with Epifanes high gloss varnish 1:1 ratio and worked in a excellent manner. Both the Epifans thinner and varnish are of outstanding quality.
Epiphanes varnish gives the best results

This varnish thinner seems to work better with the Epiphanes varnish - mixes better without any particulates and seals well, although pricey. One doesn't need to use much and the varnish must be thinned.
Can't say enough nice things about their varnish. I use Japan drier 6 drops per half ounce varnish to speed up drying.

Is it worth it?

It always seems questionable whether it's worth buying a manufacturer's proprietary thinner at the prices they charge. Theoretically, it should be better because it's specifically designed to thin the formulation of that manufacturer's coatings. I've done it both ways, generic and proprietary. It depends on the manufacturer, the coating, the kind of work that you're doing, etc. But in this case I think that it does seem to make a difference. Both the wood finish gloss and the satin finish varnish seem to flow better with Epifanes thinner. I still use generic mineral spirits or thinner for surface prep and clean up, but in the case of Epifanes use the proprietary product for thinning the coating.
It is much lighter than most mineral spirits and more volatile and does not leave a greasy residue like some other thinners

I do a lot of varnishing. I use regular mineral spirits for a lot of clean up, but when thinning Epiphanes you probably should use this stuff. It is much lighter than most mineral spirits and more volatile and does not leave a greasy residue like some other thinners. It is expensive, but if you use it primarily for thinning, it helps the varnish lay out flatter and dry more quickly so you do not get dust. i think it is worth the bucks if you are doing fine work.
