Perfect delivery!

Our builders just installed this shower pan, I haven't actually showered on it yet but I have walked on it barefoot. It's heavy and quality and perfect, I just wish it came with the 60" drain cover and I didn't have to order it separately. The best part was prime delivery, it was delivered by a freight company earlier than promised right to the door. We've been hauling so many materials during this build that the delivery was invaluable! So happy!
Installation is difficult

We picked this base over Fleurco's 42''x60'' side drain version, partially because we expected it to arrive much faster. Unfortunately, despite our Prime membership, Amazon ships it ground freight through a company I've never heard of and we were expected to stay home to sign for it. They don't leave it in front of your door like UPS or FedEx. Coast to coast travel adds more than a week and the company missed the delivery date without notifying us properly, so I had to spend two half days at home. You might want to drive to an actual store even if it is an hour away and even if it cost more.
We used this to replace a bathtub and we knew the drain location was quite different, but the work required to actually move the drain and the piping turned out to be far more difficult than we anticipated. I thought as long as we have to crack the concrete anyways, the additional overhead cannot be that much. I was wrong. Compared to moving everything by a little to accommodate a 36''x60'' base, which would have given us a lot more options from different vendors, this one easily adds a day of work, so the installation costs far more than the the shower base itself. Fleurco would have been effortless, despite costing 50% more. On the other hand, this one has the nice little canal to prevent water from pooling under your feet. I am not sure if that feature and the good looks is worth the installation effort.
It does not come with pre-drilled holes for nails or screws into the studs and acrylic is easy to crack and chip, so the installation is tricky.
It does not come with a drain. It surprised the plumbers, they said shower basins usually come with a drain, but this is a nit pick at this point. According to the box, total weight is 81 pounds. It is also quite bulky, so carrying it is a two person job.

Nice base. Would prefer styrofoam filler.

Nice base, but I would prefer a simpler method if setting. Other base I've installed had styrofoam to fill the gap underneath. Filling this gap with leveling compound add instructed is difficult to do precisely on a base this size. It seems to work, but just not ideal.
kohler groove 60x42 shower base

very good purchase for the price ,. nice large area , we installed the drain trough to the side and it works perfect, as you shower you stand in virtually no water around your feet.........could be alittle stronger built but really for the price the quality is pretty good.............definatley would recommend if your converting a garden tub to a shower as we did.
Bought this for a rental unit in converting to ADA compliance.

This was a purchase for a rental unit that I am converting to ADA compliance. It is big. 60 x 36. It has plenty of room and the install was straightforward. It does not need a leveling base poured as long as your substrate is solid and close to level. Some slight adjustment can be made with shims. I used a thin cement backer board and tile for the walls and it went in without a glitch and looks great.
The only drawback I had was the train runs the full length (60") of the back side V add its deep. Deep enough to be a trip/fall hazard. I knew this from the description and pictures but I figured my contractor could rip a piece of teak into strips and cover but he felt this would block the drain So I ended up purchasing the manufacturer's teak wooden drain cover.
MAN IS IT EXPENSIVE. $300 EXPENSIVE.
That's as much as the shower pan itself and it blew my bathroom budget. But that's on me. You've been informed so know that going in.
All said I really do like the pan and the ease is the install. I think it's a great alternative to a traditional shower pan install and it can definitely save you a boat load of time if you plan it out and have all the materials on site for the installer once he gets started. I'll try and post some pictures once the bathroom is completed.
