These were a direct replacement for failed a failed striker. Install was a breeze and it worked right away.
Keep in mind that the plate in the back of the strike allows for fail safe (door locks when no power) and fail open (door unlocks when no power). You can probably also tweak this on your system's main board, by changing the circuit from normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC).

This is a solid and small unit- I used to install these professionally, and the HES 5000 is the one used everywhere. Very nice unit and worth the money. It is NOT junk that you might find elsewhere for cheaper. I have one on my front door at home. Great product.
