A great, well thought out, well priced option.

A great price for such a good blender.
It has a very smart slow start, so it is gradually getting the powder nicely blended into the juice and then, on its own, it picks up speed and finishes the job!
Very good thinking Mr. Oster! I'm loving it!
If you're feeling very tired and old, you may be poisoning yourself with black slime clinging to the blade of your blender.
To clean after each daily use, rinse and then fill half way with hot water and detergent and blend again!
Always sniff interior before putting any ingredients in, to be sure you don't have anything smelly, nasty and black growing down around the blade.
I store mine with the lid off, so it dries out.
A good disassembled run through the dishwasher is necessary when you're doing a load of dishes, if you're a daily smoothy drinker like me.

Best Blender Under $40
NastyPaul✓ Verified Purchase•January 28, 2018
From my research this is the best blender under $40 out there. For whatever reasons, manufacturers have been making blenders with cheaper and cheaper parts over the years. This Oster 6844 replaced my long running cheaper ($29) Oster that finally broke (plastic bottom section near blade) after 5 years, but I should of kept the motor section as it was still better than more expensive Oster blenders currently available. And don't waste your time with other brands, they are inferior at this price point and you'll have to replace it sooner than later. It's not the Oster of yesterday's quality but it is better than other options. If replacement parts are available you could get even more life out of these.
Handsome color & smoothie-good!!!

Purchased for smoothies; Note - as per the instructions - found I needed to float the ice cubes w/water - for no-stop blending. Find settings "Grind" / "High" to work very well. Is a handsome, shiny "Crayola" maroon (deeeep red.). The glass pitcher has a comfortable handle & the body is a better shape than my old Krupps, as all the contents flow out more readily.
Nice glass jar but just so-so base
Tony✓ Verified Purchase•October 18, 2017
Have used the blender four times to make fruit smoothie, and it does its job.
Pros:
1. I like the glass jar. It is very good quality.
Cons:
1. It has a threaded jar skirt. I searched online and people said the skirt is an old-styled model. The skirt makes disassembling blade hard.
2. The buttons on the base are not of good quality. Having pressed several times, my "fruit smoothie" button already become dull. When I press the off button to stop, the fruit smoothie button doesn't bounce back, and I have to pull it out by hand.
3. It is hard to tell if the jar has been correctly placed on the base. You just put it on.

Love this blender!

I'm addicted to this blender, I use it all the time, for smoothies, for soup, to chop things. I even grind flax seeds. It's surprisingly easy to clean (if you get something "stuck" at the bottom), and it's so far taken a beating over the, about year, that I've had it. I one day worry that the square peg that rotates the blade will strip down, as the glass part sometimes likes to rise out of the base when blending thick foods on a high speed (it has braces on the sides that stop it with tension), but so far there have been no mishaps, so I don't foresee it becoming less effective anytime soon.
