The two kids I have (currently 5YO and 3YO) found this very fun and entertaining when traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast (via four plane rides and 4 airports) this past month. Their cousins- who traveled with us and their parents- loved it too. They would all take turns riding on it and/or pulling it around. They made up songs about the bumblebee and just really enjoyed it. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has small~ish children like mine. The reasons it did not get 5 out of 5 stars: The strap is probably a perfect length for a kid, but for your average size adult (that is me) it was a bit short and therefore annoying; my kids will, very soon, be too long/tall to truly enjoy this type of suitcase as something to "play with" but of course they can still use it and it will function as a roller suitcase- that they cannot ride (which makes me think that it will be the perfect thing to hand-down to another family member or friend who travels with younger kids through airports); the inside strap that you connect to "hold things" on one side of the suitcase is a joke. Otherwise it is a functioning suitcase the could pack TONS of fun with you on your next trip!

I bought these as we had several air travel trips that we would be taking the kids on - one of the trips, I traveled without my husband. My 2 youngest are 6 & 7 year olds with special needs. One has severe ADHD and the other is autistic. Both can be a handful and I was looking for something to make traveling through airports easier. This was a brilliant solution and worked great. I would recommend Trunkis to anyone who ever need to travel in airports with younger children.

I did swap out the strap that came with the suitcase with a 3' leash and a carabiner clasp. This made for easier towing as you have a wrist strrap and the kids could easily choose how they wanted to arrange the strap. Plus, the leash added to the whole "I'm walking a pet" feel while we were going through the airport. The kids were happy to scoot, push, pull and sometimes just drag the suitcases and they held up fine. My daughter in particular is hard on toys and even she was not able to damage the suitcase. In between flights, we would find an empty gate or hallway and the kids would zip up and down the area on the Trunkis, which helped alot when we got on the plane as their energy had been burned off. We did not have a single utterance of "Can you carry my bag for me?" during any of the trips. This was particularly helpful when I was traveling with them alone and did not have spare hands to carry anything extra.

If you are interested in buying this product, keep in mind that it has a very specific purpose and that is for traveling through airports or other walk alot type travel. You will probably be disappointed if you just get it for car trips and other low physical movement travel. But it worked great for us in the airports.

We bought this to replace the stroller for a long flight. It was a good idea as we did away with gate checking a stroller. My 4 y/o handled riding on it quite well, so I think this might be the perfect age for it, maybe 3.5. Any child younger will struggle with maneuvering the bag around since the wheels do not swivel. So around the airport it was pretty cool to just tow her along while I stayed behind to keep watch of hazards and safety. It helped keep her occupied. It didn't tire her out like walking would. And best of all"” no more restrapping and strapping in and putting her back as you would with a stroller! Best idea ever with security checks and all.
We kept contents to what we need for travel like a few clothes, water bottle, snacks, coat, neck pillow and toys. We also used an organizer to contain the small items so they all were held together by the X straps.
I rated it a 4 because the locks were tough to open so that might need to be redesigned with something easier to handle.
Overall, I highly recommend!

This is such a cute suitcase and for the most part I'm really happy with it. It's sturdy, well-made, and though I haven't had it for long, I think it will hold up on many trips. Obviously, you'll need to pack most of your child's clothes and travel necessities in another bag, but this is a fun piece for your toddler to pack some of their own toys and snacks in. The suitcase is small enough to fit under the seat in front of you, and in overhead bins unless if you are flying on a smaller regional jet (puddle jumper). As far as riding on the suitcase... it is small and I think a child over 44" would be too big for it.

Loved the concept and for the most part, love the suitcase. It made a 22 hour travel journey to Australia alone with an 11 month-old and a 3 1/2 year old MUCH smoother. It allowed me to baby wear my infant and pull my toddler through the airport in style. Not to mention, it's an awesome child magnet for my son to meet other kids who want to look at it. Adults thought it was so cool and my son loved riding on it every chance he got. The issue I had was with the manufacturing of it and is essentially why I will be returning it. The top review on this product (while long is very accurate and worth the read) mentions the hinges on this that come out of place fairly easily is indeed correct. It is very frustrating to hassle with the hinges when you have a moving toddler and baby to look after. So while I'm sure my son will be sad to see it go, we will unfortunately have to return and just before writing this I purchased the nickelodean ride on suitcase that has a zipping closure (versus the snapping/hinge closure this has). It costs more than this does, but hopefully will be worth it.
