Easy to use and very secure
RedlegJanuary 4, 2017
Works as advertised. Very strong, easy to put on and off the car. I like the fact that it has it's own storage bag. I can throw it in the trunk of the car without hassle and pull it out to use whenever I need it. Sure, the straps are a bother inside the car, but this was never designed to be a permanent surf rack, just something to hold the boards safely on top of the car from time to time.

My surf spot is only 15 miles from where I live and some of that is 55+mph on the highway and this rack holds the boards no problem, no wobble, no hassle. I probably wouldn't want to use it going cross country, but I believe it would do the job if necessary.

If you are looking for an affordable way to carry your boards and don't want to spend big bucks getting a permanent surf rack installed on your car, or want a rack that is portable between vehicles, then this is the product you are looking for.
Strong Soft Rack, Surf Board Ready
CharlesJanuary 5, 2016
We own a Honda Fit. It is a small car but it is our only one:) Having moved out to California recently we have started surfing. For some time we managed getting two boards inside our car. But now with long boards we had to find a way to put them on top. We looked into paying for professional installed racks. Way too much to spend. So Amazon had these soft Racks. We love them. They work very good. I was concerned about the wind while traveling on the highway at 65 miles per hour, but it has proved to be no problem as long as I secure them as instructed. They work so well that since I am a window cleaner I have considered using them to carry a 27 foot Werner ladder that slides down into a short enough section to put on top of our Soft Rack on our tiny Fit. The way that it is designed we can leave the Rack on the car while we are in the Ocean because we can close the doors leaving a crucial part of the straps locked inside of the car making it not possible to steal it without having to cut the straps rendering it a real problem to reuse it. We have not seen any scratches to the paint, so we believe it has no negative impact on the car.
Great for quick trips to the beach

I use this for two 8' boards and love it. I leave the boards attached to the rack and just remove it from the car.
Quick on, quick off.

Much more flexible than a single set of bars for one car.
Actual rack is very good quality - straps and clips are heavy duty. Can see them lasting a while.

Only drawbacks are those you'll find with all soft racks - the straps go through the car, and you need to be careful of scratching the paint work (with the heavy duty clips) whilst removing the rack.
Firm racks work alot better, but if you are flying and renting a car this is the tool
mike shuttMay 13, 2015
Here is the deal with soft racks, they do not hold your boards like firm racks they always wiggle all over, they scratch up the car, and they cause rain to leak in the windows. They do however fit in your suit case when you travel and if you need to put a few boards on a rental car on your next trip this is the right tool. Make sure the rental guy notes the roof scratches left by the last guy so you don't get charged for them, in Hawaii and Costa Rica and similar places it happens more than you'd think.
I have a 2013 Ford Escape with no roof rack ...

I have a 2013 Ford Escape with no roof rack. Thanks to this kit I can safely tie down a surf board and drive across San Diego at 75 MPH without a worry. Well I do worry about Niki Manage, but that's another subject.
