Great product. Very versatile. I primarily use it when making dog food as I purchase, grind, and bag a few hundred pounds at a time, so I use this scale to weigh out the ingredients for each batch. The large pad means I can put a big meat lug or tub on it and fill it with each ingredient, and leave it on there and just use the tare function to keep adding ingredients as needed with pretty decent precision. And since it's smooth stainless it wipes off easily. We've also used it to weigh ourselves, our dogs, our packages, etc. It's durable and easy to use and I LOVE that it comes with BOTH a battery and an AC adapter. Only complaint is that it's supposed to have an auto shut off feature and it doesn't seem to actually shut off. Not sure how long it takes but I let it sit on battery for at least an hour untouched and it was still on. No problem, I just use the cord and save the battery for when we need portability. Highly recommended product.

The identical unit that this replaces served me well for over 5 years. That's why I bought another one of exactly the same kind. Like any precision instrument, you need to take care not to *DROP* your packages on it; that can damage the strain gauge that actually does the weight measurement.

The good news is this scale works well across our 10 to 30 lb. range. No issues at all.
Precision is good, and you get what you pay for in accuracy:
I wish the readout was not 'blue'- for better legibility.

Concerning accuracy:
A plastic bucket (known to weigh 28 ounces) may read out at 27, 28, or 29 ounces.
If it reads 27, all you know is that its real weight could be 26, or 27 or 28.
Therefore, you cannot know 'within an ounce'.
So, purchase a calibrated weight in that range
OR purchase a more expensive scale having 0.1 ounce readout, which would let you know within a half ounce. Check it also with a known weight(s).

I would not recommend the WeighMax W-4830 for use below 5 pounds, as the % error only becomes greater.

We have not tested for accuracy at temperatures below 60F and above 85F.

I always try to wait a set period to review an item, so that I can provide enough use of a product to give it a fair review. So I have had this scale for quite awhile (6-7 months) and have used it or tried to use this scale. The features are nice, it has a nice display, and large pad for weighing large cartons and containers. That is the good news, now for the bad news. Functionality, this scale times out and goes to sleep while a container is on it and actively having weight added to it. This is extremely frustrating, equally frustrating is the fact that there is no way to disable the sleep mode/time-out on this scale. Perhaps I have a defective item, however I am past the eligibility for returning this item. Too bad, the features are nice, the functionality is awful. I will be shopping for another scale. Certainly cannot recommend this scale, as it is not functional. From what I understand as long as their is an item or container on the scale it should not go to sleep and time-out, not so for me anyhow.

This scale is THE BEST SCALE! Well for 95% of us. I use this scale every single day for months now and it is so perfect. I get salt water all over it every day too and not even the smallest sign of rust. I have parts on my boat that have rust on them and yet this scale (not made for marine life) has no rust yet. It boggles my mind how this is even possible. Ok so you would NOT want this scale if... you weigh things less than 1 lbs. Yes it can do it but you can tell it doesn't really want to, if you weigh things over 300 lbs. In fact if you put 333 lbs on the scale you brake it. And the last group of people who wouldn't want this scale is if you need to hook it up to your computer. It doesn't have a port. It is strictly a stand alone scale. If you are not in one of those groups, buy this scale right now, seriously stop reading my lame review and go add it to the cart ;) you can thank me later haha. Oh PS it's a great scale for adding slowly to your box you don't have to add all items to a box then weight it. I checked multiple times and it's just as accurate to add each item in the box. I even add water to my packages and it perfectly calculates the added weight.
