Great for Hyper-extensive joints too!
Melanotis✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 23, 2023
My condition.:
I have unstable (super flexy) joints on all joints in my hand (and mild raynauds) and I was in a lot of pain from overuse which didn't seem to take much. I used oval-8 splints on all the finger joints but the splints were beginning to drive me crazy so I thought I would try these even though that is not their original purpose.
---

The Gloves:
They are very similar to a very, very skinny wet suit. The flocking on the underside is the same and no where near as soft as I imagined. However once on, they did not scratch. The outside had tiny rubber bumps over the whole thing. They were rough but not scratchy and would look dumb with just the grip material over the hands and an alternative would be more expensive to make, driving up the price.
---

Wearing Them:
My adventures in wearing these gloves went like this.

Mine arrived on a Monday. I was at the high but not highest end of the small (7.5 inches). However I forgot I have a large palm and long skinny fingers. So when I got them the the fingers were perfect but the palm was too small. The small also barely covered my last joint but it seemed to be enough to be useful.

They were still mostly okay and they certainly helped. But over the day the width slightly crushed my knuckles and the gloves dug into the space between two fingers. One with a seam, one without. I had read that they needed some breaking in so I continued to give them a whirl at that size anyway.

When I first wore them they were warm and it was awesome for my raynauds (No problems with frozen food!) but took a little getting used to as the exposed tips felt cold in comparison. I had to keep checking them against my cheek to make sure circulation wasn't cut off. But by the end of the day that was no longer noticeable.

I did sweat a little and was worried about drenching my hands, however it wasn't a problem as they seemed to breath just enough not to cause a problem

The next day they were still too tight so I ordered the next size up and wore the smaller size on and off until I got the new gloves on Thursday (go go amazon prime).

The new gloves were perfect on the palm and okay along the first segment of the fingers but loosened up as they went on and the compression was nonexistent by the time it got to the end. However, the gloves fingers were longer and they were still useful for slightly stabilizing the hand and joints so I tried them at that size.

The two areas that dug in on the previous pair also had pressure on them with the larger pair but not as much. I'm used to all medical anything taking some getting used to ,so I stayed with them and it soon wasn't a problem.

They were fine and helpful, mostly on, sometimes off throughout the day, and about 95% better than the splints. The warmth was nice and using my hands was easier than the splints. Plus it built a bit of strength in my fingers because they were a little harder to move during typing and grasping. (Only if you have super weak fingers I imagine)

They were also awesome for drawing, which I do a lot of.

By the end of Friday the overall pain in my fingers had lessoned significantly to the point that when I took them off at night I wasn't kept awake by it, indeed I didn't even notice it.

Saturday I woke to a surprising number of hangnails and what looked like lots of really tiny little blisters along the bottom of the nail-bed - many of those later became hangnails as well. I at first suspected a skin condition that my Mum had, however I realized that that was precisely where the tips of the gloves rubbed because they weren't tight.

As I said, all medical anything takes getting used to, and the splints caused similar problems when I first wore them too. So I took time off to let the blisters heal and then wore cut up bandaids along the bottom of the nails for the sore skin until that toughend up. Afterwhich I was fine.
---

Overall Results:
They were superior to the splints. They allowed enough stability to help without causing atrophy in the muscles.

The splints I had been wearing dug in any time I needed to grip and affected a larger section my hand. So some minor inconvenience with the fingers was worth it. And while I had initial, very minor pain from hangnails it paled in comparison to how much the whole hand hurt without the gloves.

The only reason I'm giving four stars not five is because the fit was awkward for me. For someone with more evenly distributed features this would not be a problem. I was also using them for a condition they were not designed.

In general both the gloves and yourself need a little breaking in, but if you are sick of the alternatives, this is worth it.

***Update***
Upon increased usage and warmer days, the gloves do not breathe enough to be totally free of damp hands. Talcum powder is in order.
Sizing Is Tricky...

Thermoskin Arthritic Gloves, Black, Sold by the Pair - Extra Small solved two problems for me. An unusual neurological condition left one of my hands nonfunctional for a year; as it regained strength and movement, I also found it got cold easily. Further, I developed arthritis in my other hand and wanted something to help alleviate the discomfort. I needed something for warmth and something that would provide relief through compression. Thermoskin Arthritic Gloves seemed to be the ideal solution.

After reading other reviews, I knew sizing would be tricky. Earlier in the year when I needed wrist support in my nonfunctional hand, I purchased a Thermoskin Carpal Tunnel Glove. It worked well to warm the hand and to provide wrist support. I purchased it in a Small since the measurement around my knuckles was the smallest circumference for that size. The glove fit, but was not snug. I ordered Thermoskin Arthritic Gloves in Extra Small and they fit perfectly, providing both warmth and compression for pain relief. My hands are small - 5 1/2" wrist measurement, 3 1/2" X 2 3/4" palm, and fingers from 2 1/4" to 3". I recommend buying the smaller size if your hands measure at the lowest circumference in a particular size.

Your hands will sweat some while you are wearing the Thermoskin Arthritic Gloves; I hand wash mine at least once a week. After rolling them in a towel to get rid of excess water, I lay them out to airdry - overnight is sufficient. I have had a problem with the seam between my middle finger and ring finger on both hands. If I wear the gloves for a full day and night, I develop a sore on the webbing between these two fingers. If you are prone to developing sores or have delicate skin, you may want to be careful so you do not develop sores.

All in all, I am pleased with this purchase. The Thermoskin Arthritic Gloves serve the purposes for which I purchased them. I rated them as a 4-star product because the seams caused sores on the both hands. Had this not happened, I would have rated them as a 5 star item.
Warm but velcro pulls at sleeves

Update 9 Months Later:
I still love these gloves. I've worn them daily for nine months. I've hand washed them. The only additional problem is that some of the stitching at the bottom of the gloves and the top of the fingers has begun to unravel. But this doesn't seem to make any difference. The two layers of the neoprene are staying together just fine. I still don't like the velcro but I have it adjusted so that I can remove the gloves without loosening the velcro tab. And the hook part of the velcro has gotten covered by lint which actually makes it less of a problem.

Original Review:
I suffer from extremely cold hands. But I still need to type on a keyboard, use a tablet and cell phone and other things that require my finger tips to be exposed, And I have not found a cell phone glove that provides great dexterity. These gloves got good ratings so I thought I'd try them. I've had them about a month now.

Pros -
- They are nice and warm. While wearing them my hands are definitely warmer and more comfortable. The long fingers work great and come to just about the bottom of my nail on most of my fingers. But I would think that careful cutting of the finger length may be possible provided that the ends of the seams were given a few extra stitches.

- The outer texture of the gloves gives great holding traction without slippage.

- Though that same texture seemed to make the fingers stick together at first, they became much better after only a few days wear.

Cons -

- The out facing seams in the fingers do cause some friction in finger movement. But I find it doesn't bother me much.

- The gloves don't breathe. While that keeps the heat in which is wonderful, your hands feel sweaty once you've removed the gloves.

- The gloves fit tightly (again great) but are hard to remove.

- The worst part to me is that the velcro closure sticks and pulls many long sleeve fabrics. I haven't ruined any sweaters yet but I'm careful about pulling the sleeves off of the hooks.

Bottom line -

So far these gloves keep my hands the warmest while allowing me good freedom of movement. I would buy them again.
Great product!

I bought these gloves 2X, and they were helpful. My only negative is having to take them on and off when it's. time to go to the bathroom at night to wash your hands. They are all like that.
IMPRESSIVE - WORK GREAT FOR RA

First thing I need to say is that I have active Rheumatoid Arthritis so I have been trying various types of compression and arthritis gloves hoping to find ones that will offer the most relief from almost constant pain. These Thermoskin Gloves are very close to being the best I have tried. I bought the size Small and they are very snug which is what I wanted. I started out wearing them a few hours a day to get used to them and it did take me a while to build up the ability to wear them longer periods of time because although I am small-boned my hands are long, so the distance from my wrist to the webbing between my fingers is longer than the space allowed in the gloves. Therefore they pull down slightly on my hands. If I keep my hands straight for too long it becomes painful at the point between my ring fingers and middle fingers. I don't think a bigger size glove is the answer though because the rest of the glove fits and I even have a little room in the fingers. I am thinking of snipping a "v" just at that meeting place between those two fingers. Hopefully this makes sense. The alternative is to keep my hands bent partially closed when wearing the gloves but that gets tiring for my joints. GOOD POINTS: They keep my hands warm by building up warmth almost immediately after putting them on, which really helps my joint pain. They are comfortable once you get used to wearing them and since I have small wrists the wrist wraps do not bother me at all. They are great for Driving Gloves as they grip the steering wheel well and help with hand fatigue which is a huge problem with arthritis sufferers. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND these gloves to anyone with arthritis as the alternative is unpleasant (chronic pain, chemo drugs, etc).

4/12/2018 Update: I did snip a "V" at the space between my middle and ring fingers and eventually it started to rip. However they have held up beautifully. If I get a new pair I will reconsider cutting a slit or if I do will sew the edges
