Heats quickly and cooks evenly.
IsabelleSeptember 18, 2015
The Wolfgang Puck Reversible Grill and Griddle is outstanding - flat griddle on one side, and a ridged grill on the other and no long wait tor it to heat up. Pancakes come out evenly cooked, not like other griddles where pancakes are half light and half dark and require rotating. French toast and eggs also cook nicely. The grill is very large. It can hold almost a whole pound of bacon and cooks it quickly. It is also quite heavy which results in even cooking. My steaks, burgers and veggies have nice grill marks and cook perfectly. Shrimp which cook very quickly come out with nice grill marks, not like other grills which don't get hot enough to sear them. Glad I made this purchase.
Great multi-functional grill!

I have been using this grill nearly everyday since late July and have been impressed so far with the results I've been getting. First let's start with the basics:

- 1800-watt reversible grill/griddle
- 207-square-inch cooking surface (18" x 11.75")
- Adjustable temperature control (up to 400 degrees F)
- Nonstick surface for effortless food release (Keep it safe and DON'T USE METAL UTENSILS)
- Dishwasher Safe (I've never tried this and never will due to the possibility of damaging the heating element)
- Comes with a plastic grill/griddle scraper
- Comes with a mini cookbook/cooking guide to help you with various types of meats and veggies

I've mostly grilled boneless chicken breasts on this thing, but I've also done pork chops, salmon steaks, 1/4 lb burgers, and New York strips on this thing. They have all come out fabulous, but the one thing that really impressed me the most was that I was able to do a full rack of baby back ribs on this thing. I was hosting a party and already had two full racks in the charcoal grill outside, so I decided to give this thing a try in making barbecued ribs. Aside from slight differences in the texture of the meat (due to the differences in the cooking methods), my guests thought they were just as delicious as the two racks grilled on the charcoal grill. The meat was still pretty tender, and ripped right off the bone. After getting positive feedback on the ribs I'd done on this grill, I figured this thing can probably handle almost anything.

To clean it, you use the scrapers provided to get rid of any burned chunks stuck on the grill, then use dish detergent and a soft sponge. Dry with a paper towel(s). I use terry towels so I don't waste so much paper. The manual states that the grill plate is dishwasher safe, but since the heating element is also connected to the grill plate, I don't want to take that chance and ruin the grill (Remember: Generally water and appliances is a HUGE NO-NO)

If there's one flaw in this grill, it's that the drip channels are very small and only on one side of the grill. This means a lot of the grease and fat will just collect on the grill itself and not fall into the drip tray unless you force it manually. Of course I do understand since this is a double sided grill/griddle, they can't just put holes all over the thing otherwise the griddle wouldn't be a griddle anymore.

I suggest getting these two silicon utensils to supplement the grill. They work great:
OXO Good Grips 9-Inch Tongs with Silicone Heads
OXO Good Grips Silicone Flexible Pancake Turner

I've come to find that this is currently unavailable on Amazon and that they don't know when or if this will be back in stock. That's a shame considering how great this product works (excellent reviews except for a small minority). I wanted to buy one of these as a Christmas present for my brother. Please bring it back Amazon!
Uneven heating
BrandonSeptember 2, 2013
After reading the other reviews I had high hopes, however this product is junk. One side of the griddle is consistently 25-35 degrees hotter than the other (oddly enough, the side furthest from the electric plug is hotter than the close side). In addition, the spots directly over the heating element are 15 degrees hotter than any other spot on the griddle. The heat differences make it impossible to get a consistent cooking temperature or time. I spent the extra money on this hoping it would provide a better cooking experience but this works just as well (or poorly as the case is) as the $20 Hamilton Beach model.
Grill

I looked over several grills and I liked the fact that I could put more than two pieces of meat on the grill and that it was also reversible so I could use it for pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches.

I already cooked fish with this grill and it was excellent. The fish tasted just like it would if I had used an outdoor grill except the fish didn't fall through the grids. I also cooked chicken breasts and those were delicious too. You will see the grid marks just like an outdoor grill. You will also get a bit of smoke when first using the grill but it stops quickly.

The cleanup was easy as can be but the grill itself is heavy so be careful. Everything I cooked that was on the grill came off easily and like I said cleanup was a snap. This is the best indoor grill I have used.
Good grill which falls short of greatness because of several flaws

I like this grill. I wish that I could say that I love it, but there are a number of minor flaws that hold it back from being great. My wife and I purchased this grill for the convenience of grilling indoors, and indeed it has allowed us to do exactly that. I'll summarize what we like and do not like about this Wolfgang Puck electric grill.

First, the good points:

-The double-sided, solid aluminum grill element has a high quality non-stick finish.
-The grill gets as hot as you could possibly need. (EDIT: the side close to the plug gets hotter than the far side).
-When using the ribbed side, it leaves wonderful char marks on meats and vegetables.
-Everything we have made so far - from steaks and kabobs to pancakes has come out perfectly. In the end, how the food turns out is the most important measure of this item.

On the down-side:

-The base of this grill is very cheap plastic which is lightweight and does not feel at all durable.
-Further, it slides around VERY easily because there is no rubber on the feet. I'll probably go buy something at Home Depot in order to rectify this problem, but it should have been considered and included in the product's design.
-The shape of the grill itself is a slight disappointment as well. Rather than a logical rectangular shape that gives the same amount of room across the entire length, the long sides are rounded meaning that the center of the grill is wider than the ends. This could be considered a minor complaint perhaps, but this design just doesn't make a lot of sense. It is my understanding that earlier models of this Wolfgang Puck grill were indeed rectangular in shape. Why the unfortunate change?
-Cleaning the grill is not difficult if you have a large, deep sink. However if your sink isn't big enough to accommodate the grill top, you'll end up flipping it over and over to wash and rinse both ends. This leads to a related problem - the plastic handles on either end of the grill are hollow, meaning they'll collect the greasy water and charred bits while you're washing it. Inevitably this leads to the need to flip the grill over to rinse it off numerous times. Again, I imagine this is less of a problem if you're fortunate to have an enormous sink. Otherwise, consider yourself informed.

I want to stress that we are pleased with our purchase of this grill despite this mixed review. In terms of performance, it has been great. I just wish that it was designed a bit better to make the overall use and clean-up experience even better.

EDIT 5/30/13: This item has mostly been retired in our kitchen. For us, the clean-up is just too difficult with a small sink. This obviously wouldn't be a problem for everyone, however. Combine this with the uneven heat across the length of the unit, and we now find ourselves using Lodge Logic L8SGP3 Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan, 10.5-inch instead, and we are much happier.
