I'm quite happy with the pot. It's nice and heavy and so far seems to be durable and should last a long time. There is one simple feature that could easily be added, which is the water level for the bottom pot. There isn't much room for water at the bottom actually, considering the size and volume of the top pot. If you put in too much water, either the top pot floats - or - when it starts to boil, the boiling water shoots out from all sides! If you put too little, it may dry out soon. A simple line inside the bottom to indicate water level would solve, especially when the top pot is full and very heavy - it's hard to lift up such a heavy and very hot pot for refill.

As described. 8 quart is the bottom size, not the insert. I don't understand why none of the double boilers provide the size of the insert - which is really the most important volume as it is where the item will be cooked.

Love this Double Boiler set. I cook large amounts of whatever (like Mac & Cheese) when possible so I don't have to cook all the time. When I mix all the food up in this to let it simmer it does not burn on the bottom and the whole dish gets warm and ready to eat. The old way it always burned on the bottom no matter what I did. Alright so now there are two pans to wash, so what! The food is not burned.

While this set isn't made of metal as thick as that on an armored car, it's substantially more sturdy than the stuff that you find in places like Walmart. It appears to be very well made, and it does the job. I'm very happy with this set.

I have only used this once. I found it very good for putting cooked Italian sausage and pasta sauce in it an hour before we needed it. I did not have to worry about stirring it and it burning on the bottom of the pan. I put it all in, put the flame on medium and stirred it a half hour later then I put the flame on low and let her ride until dinner. It worked perfect. The 4 star review is only because I wish it was just a little lower and wider. I like it a lot and it is worth buying. Seems like pretty good quality for the price too.
