Nice Bag But Poor Top Handle Design and No Response on Warranty Request
Brett✓ Verified Purchase•May 11, 2017
Size is good, lots of pockets and such, seems like a very well thought out ski boot bag and overall build quality seems good. It's even really nice looking I'd say, I like the colors (lots of other choices too) and the pattern, blah, blah, blah (who cares, it's a boot bag right? :) ). However, the top handle choice of placement and attachment method is inadequate. As seems to be Athalon's customer service. Like many others, my top handle (started to) rip(ped) off right where it's sewn to the bag after only a couple of (not abusive whatsoever) uses and I contacted Athalon to inquire about warranty service (well within advertised warranty period of 5 years, it wasn't even 2 months old!) only to be ignored. Since I can no longer return it to Amazon (though replacements seemingly soon do the same thing anyway...), I'll probably cut the handle off and (have someone) properly sew on a new sturdier top handle (I'm picturing it attached to the outer sections where the boots go with cross stitching closer to the very top of the bag which as a bonus to strength, should make the bag carry more upright too - maybe I'll love this bag at that point...). There is another handle that appears to be much sturdier on the front of the bag which I've started using instead but it's kind of awkward as it lays the bag on its back instead of upright (not really how you want to set it down in a snowy/wet/muddy parking lot or driveway, especially if you intend to wear it like a backpack, which I don't but, yeah, not ideal in my book...). I (sadly, I really do like the bag otherwise, I might even say it's pretty awesome if it weren't for the handle issue...), unless you're up for some re-design work and have means to conduct a semi-heavy-duty sewing project, recommend that you do yourself a favor and keep shopping.
Top Handle Strap Poorly Designed - Rest of Bag is Okay

As with literally dozens of other reviewers, the top handle strap separated from the bag. I don't mean it ripped in some catastrophic failure - I mean the stitches just pulled through the nylon webbing strap, like a comb through hair.
I had used it twice, with boots, helmet, gloves, and a jacket being the only weight. I had used the top handle to carry it a dozen feet only a couple of times.
I have little faith in the rest of the stitching, and will try to return it for a replacement. Overall, the zippers and bag material seems quite sturdy and well made, but I am quite disappointed in the most convenient and important handle failing with almost no stress.

Just got back from my spring ski trip! Checked this bag both ways and it held up perfectly! (Delta)
It's big.... and for fun, I tallied up everything I just pulled out!
Ski boots
TWO helmets (I bought a new one but didn't want to toss my old one!)
Big toiletry bag!
Makeup bag
Flip flops (for changing in the lobby)
Goggles + 2 extra lenses
Sunglasses case
Hand warmers (didn't need!)
3 stocking hats
2 pair gloves
Ski pants
2 pair base layer leggings
Base layer top
5 neck warmers (just in case!)
Fanny pack
A few other accessories (including a trail map!)
Love all the pockets. The ONLY disadvantage is that it's heavy when fully loaded!!

Loved this boot bag

Loved this boot bag, and I really wanted to keep it, however it didn't fit in the overhead compartment of the plane. Also, I found it to be a bit "too" big. Yes, it held ALL of my wearable ski gear (coat, pants, helmet, gloves and extras), but was very uncomfortable to wear as a backpack since the weight distribution was off. I looked at the measurements and found that it was basically 17-18 inches square (back and bottom) thus too wide to get through the opening of the airplane storage space above me, and would not fit under the seat in front of me either (I ended up taking one of the boots out in order to flatten it enough to slide through the storage opening. If you are not planning on flying with this (or plan to check it in), then it's an awesome bag, well made, with plenty of room and nice extra storage features and clips. Since I am only 5'2", this bag is just too big to carry comfortably.
Handle strap separated from bag.

Returned. Top handle strap broke away from bag during 2nd use.
Bag contained 1 pair of boots, ski pants, helmet, goggles, hat, gloves and face warmer.
Handle straps are sewn into top seam of bag with no reinforcing stitches. Strap ends are not finished (hot melt) before stitching and they fray. A single stitch is used to sew the top seam and strap end together. No strength for long term durability.
