I make lots of soups and chowders. I love this pot because I make a double batch each time because I make one for home and one for another family. All batches have gone smoothly and were delicious. Thanks for a well crafted pot.
I'm quite happy with this pot

I'm quite happy with the pot. It's nice and heavy and so far seems to be durable and should last a long time. There is one simple feature that could easily be added, which is the water level for the bottom pot. There isn't much room for water at the bottom actually, considering the size and volume of the top pot. If you put in too much water, either the top pot floats - or - when it starts to boil, the boiling water shoots out from all sides! If you put too little, it may dry out soon. A simple line inside the bottom to indicate water level would solve, especially when the top pot is full and very heavy - it's hard to lift up such a heavy and very hot pot for refill.
Overall, seems like a quality DB

Leaving out 1 star until I ACTUALLY use the boiler! It's in the dishwasher right now, losing any ~whatever~ from manufacturing and shipment.
Handles were tight on mine, no problem. As has been said, the means of attachment of the handles to the pots is a bit dicey. I won't be picking up 30+ pounds of hot liquid anytime soon! That's my only complaint, although I knew of that "feature" before I ordered.
What is troubling to me about the whole concept of a double boiler, is that all (most?) 'manufacturers' (let's not kid ourselves, they don't manufacture. Some contract manufacturer in China does it), give the size of the outer pot, NOT the inner pot where you cook your goodies.
This DB is listed at 16 qt/4 gal. I've no doubt that the outer pot is that. But I doubted very much that the inner one was anywhere close. I added 14 qts to the inner pot and the liquid level was 0.5" from overflowing. You'd be foolhardy to fill it that high! But, 12 qt/3 gal. left a nice 2+" of headspace. Kinda what I expected. Even better than I expected.
I've owned 15 gallon Vollraths for brewing. They are the cream of the creme. But pricey! This set is fine for my needs.
I'll be back with a followup once I've made some cheeses with this set.
