Snap-N-Store Letter-Size File Box, Black
Sharon in Alaska✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 27, 2018
This little box shipped flat. Because it snaps together, it can also be stored flat. Perfect for what I ordered it for, which is temporary organization and storage of resource materials that is portable, looks good, and not too expensive. Perfect for taking to trade shows and other off-site locations. Vinyl covered cardboard won't last forever, but the top edge is reinforced with metal so hanging folders can easily slide. The corners of the lid are also reinforced with metal, so it should last longer than most cardboard lids. At $10 each with free Prime shipping, I'm totally satisfied.
Be aware that the lid fits very loosely to accommodate hanging file folders. It's not dust-proof and could flip off and blow away in windy conditions.

Seems pretty sturdy. Yes the lid is too big, but that seems to be intentional so that the file folders, which rest on the edges of the box, aren't smashed. Only complaint is that the handle was noticeably crooked on one of the boxes. Otherwise, it does what it says it does, holds your documents and things securely in an attractive way.

I like the looks of this file box and seems relatively sturdy although the snaps are an interesting concept... can see where if you put too much into it they might pop open. What I do NOT like is the lid. It doesn't really fit the box, it just sits on top of your files - so kinda strange. You definitely would not want to use it as a file box to transport files. Otherwise, okay.

Vote most HELPFULL REVIEW please look at photo. Place a 3/4" or 1" book binder clip on each corner of this file box. This will strengthen your file box so snaps will not pop open. Box is made of heavy cardboard laminated with black leather look vinyl. The lid is extra big & just sits on top of hanging file folder tabs. These boxes are NOT meant to be stacked because the lid will crush the file tab tops. They look real classy on a shelf & metal handles are on 2 sides. This does NOT come with hanging file folders or any files.
Best file boxes I've found

I have gone through a lot of magazine file boxes in my day and these are my favorites so far -- the perfect combination of durability and good design combined with reasonable price. I use them to store papers, documents, and pamphlets used for my research and they are great for this task, as the large size helps you store bulky items that don't always fit in standard file boxes. They are actually large enough that they can hold standard 8.5x11 papers either upright or on their side -- in other words, the front-to-back length is over 11 inches. Assembly is very easy. They arrive folded flat. You simply open them up, bend the bottom flaps down, and snap them together. Thereafter, they stand on their own and stay together. The durability is outstanding. I have used other file boxes that resemble cheap cardboard. These have a very sturdy feel and have so far withheld a lot of abuse. They have nice metal label holders on both front and back, and a nice round hole to pull them off the shelf when they are full. Overall, I would say these are the perfect file boxes for bankers, teachers, or anyone who needs to store bulk files on the shelf in a tidy way. Very pleased.
