Perfect for my square bread machine loaves

I had been looking for a counter top bread box, but the ones I found were suited to the bread loaves you buy at the grocery store, not the boxier shape loaf you get from a bread machine. Finally, I found this one, and it's perfect. The clear plastic box has two sliding pieces "” one fits inside the other and slides back and forth to adjust the size. It also includes a small plastic cutting board that fits inside. There is an adjustable vent on one end with small holes that can be left open or partially or fully closed, depending on the amount of humidity you want for your bread. I used it on a French bread loaf with the vent half open, and it works well. Just one caveat "” this is an "add-on" item that you can only order with at least $25 more worth of stuff. Not hard to do with Amazon.
Just one issue

Large enough to accommodate a large machine loaf. Actually works well to keep the bread. My only dislike is that there really are no handles to grab onto. This is not an issue when moving the entire unit to another counter, as I tend to pick it up with both hands so as not to drop it. Where it is kind of a fuss is when I am opening it, or attempting to reassemble it. It makes it more of a challenge to deal with both halves without resorting to employing more body language in the process. Just hard to grab onto.
Just about perfect.

Love it. Had been looking for the right container for my 100% whole wheat homemade bread. Perfect size. I was using a Tupperware type cake container before which took up way too much room, especially when refrigerating the bread. Like the venting. I place the cut end opposite from the vent and it results in minimal drying out. The bread board insert doesn't really serve a useful purpose due to size, therefore the reason for 4 stars. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with the product.
So VERY close!

This is a great idea, and it worked really well...at first. If you are going to bake fresh bread and live in a very humid climate you can't expect this bread box to perform a miracle. It does help keep the bread going a bit longer, but when we tried to see how long we found that the safest bet is to place the bread in fridge after about 3 days.
This is NOT the item's fault, the reason I knocked off a star is because if you have a large homemade loaf you have a hard time fitting the box over it. I use a bread machine most times, so if you bake large family loaves, think on before purchase.
Going to keep using, though we have decided to try traditional stainless steel now as we tried the "unattractive practical" and now going for "pretty and may work!" Good Luck to ya!

I started making my own bread with a bread machine because I was tired of throwing away bread. I live alone and those two-pound loaves sold in stores are just too much bread. I either have to throw bread away because it molds at room temperature, or because of freezer- burn. Now I make my own, one-pound loaves which are the perfect size for me.
I got one of these to keep the bread in and it works great. I live at 8,000 feet altitude and the air is dry, so I keep the vent closed. But, there are occasions when I bake a loaf and don't have time to fully cool the loaf afterwards before leaving the house, so when that happens I leave the vent open to keep condensation from building up in the bread box.
I got a second one for the times I make a quick bread too.
