Quit complaining. This works great.

There is nothing to complain about here. It just works. Yes, I can see how if you strung this out and hung 40# of wet towels on it, the plastic could break -- so don't hook it on the plastic. I just put the hooks through the knot in the rope.
Well-constructed & easy to take in during the winter months

Well-constructed & easy to take in during the winter months. Not too much stretch in the line like some other cheaper-made Chinese models in the big box stores. I have two - only had to replace one because of a big windstorm ripped it off the house and the housing broke (not the line) while it had a lot of heavy towels & clothes. The other held up fine & have been using for several years without issues. Other similar ones by other manufacturers lasted a lot shorter time before breaking
Too much slack

There's not much to say about a clothes line. It's functional. My issue with this one is that no matter how tight I pull it and hook it around the bottom things, it's always too slack. Maybe that's a common problem with retractable lines; I've never had one before. I'm going to use it for the lightest things and hang a permanent line for the heavier items.
Does well. Holds weight. Cord may sag.

This product functions as expected. It retracts well and extends well. Holds heavy clothes and blankets. It is almost entirely plastic and seems like it wouldn't hold much weight. I was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn't the case. The only real complaint I have is that the material the line itself is made of is somewhat stretchable. If it is fully extended and loaded with wet clothes, it has a bit of a tendency to sag. This can be alleviated by tightening the cord but I can hardly get it tight enough for some instances.
GREAT alternative to a permanent clothes line.

Love this thing. I was thinking I'd have to place a permanent clothes line outside to dry laundry, and wasn't looking forward to digging post holes and trying to get the hanging lines TIGHT.
I saw this and thought it might be worth a try - and it's MUCH better than expected. I mounted it to an existing fence post (at the very top) and mounted the hooks for the ends on a nearby (20 ft? away) tree. With a few tries I figured out how to get the lines TIGHT - and it's great that I can take it down when not in use.
I've even had loads of towels drying on it -- though the lines bow a bit, it totally works.
Like the instructions say, I retract the lines when not in use to prevent stretching and I actually have been bringing the whole unit inside to keep in nice and clean and hopefully last forever.
I was skeptical, but I love it. I was dreading both installing and seeing a clothesline 24/7.
