Buy this Wok if your using a ceramic cooktop. EXCELLENT!!
JC•March 1, 2017
My first Wok. After extensive research, I ended up getting this "cast iron" wok after reading the advice on the "Wok Shop's" website for cooking on a ceramic cooktop. Definatley made the right choice! Even though its's pre-seasoned I cleaned the wok with soap and water and re-seasoned using green onions and ginger anyway. (See Wok Shop's webste for instructions)
Made beef and brocolli for my first dish and it came out perfectly!! NO STICKING! No kidding!! Heated up quickly and holds heat great. Couldn't leave stove on "High", had to cut it back just a tad. Also, not to heavy, hard to believe it's cast iron!
Can't wait to keep on using this for years to come!

Great daily wok

I've been using this wok on a daily basis for two months now and it hasn't let me down yet. Large cooking surface, excellent heat distribution, and not as heavy as you'd think. The factory seasoning wasn't great, so I scrubbed the heck out of it, used high heat and salt to dry it out, and then applied a few thin layers of vegetable oil with a paper towel (while on high heat). I've done a quick rinse / hot oil rubdown a couple times since and have had no problems with sticking. Just make sure to wipe out the pan soon after you're finished eating and you'll be thrilled with the result.
A very nice, well made wok

A very nice, well made wok.
I went to the local mall, and went to every store that sold kitchen stuff. None of the stores had a wok that compared to the quality of this wok.
I have an induction stove, so my selection of a wok is limited, and this wok works perfectly on an induction stove. In fact, the bottom heats so fast on my stove, that my little trick to stir fry cooking on induction is to heat the wok slowly on medium for about 5 minutes so the sides get nice and hot, then turn it to high when I add the ingredients.
With the larger than average flat bottom, this is the perfect induction wok. It cleans up great, and should get better over time, just like my cast iron skillet.

Not Flat When Heated.

Bought this one because it's supposed to work well on glass top stoves. Not true. My 2 other steel woks would distort when heated and not sit flat. The first time I heated it up the center started to bulge out about 1/4" and made it not useable. The strange part is when it cooled down it was flat again. The quality looks great but I can't use it on a glass top.
A very nice appliance

My concerns about this product were the weight and whether a six inch heating surface would be enough for cooking at high temperatures. Since receiving it, I have learned that it is more than suitable for my needs. It truly is lightweight, surprisingly so for cast iron, and it heats very evenly and retains heat well, as I have come to expect from cast iron pans. The wok sits completely flat on my glass-top stove, and the six inch burner heats it enough for good searing of meat and quick cooking of vegetables. This item was purchased as a replacement for an electric wok and I am very pleased with the difference in cooking heat and the cooking surface versus non-stick. The cast iron cleans easily with some water and a nylon scrubber. The handles are sturdy and well attached, so I expect this wok to be serviceable for many years to come.
