Great Addition to my sharpening kit
Alchemy819✓ Verified Purchase•July 15, 2023
My first one arrived broken but Amazon replaced it immediately. Thanks Amazon! After using it for a few weeks now on various projects I find it excellent in creating an even rake across the entire blade up to about 6". It is quick and produces an edge worthy of the next step of honing. I used it on some of my smaller kitchen knives that tend not to hold an edge very well and so far they are holding their edge better. I have only the coarse/fine DMT sharpener for now that I bought to sharpen my Puma pocket knife as it seemed be the only thing that would get it to the basic level I wanted. I will add the FWEEE to my kit shortly. I do find the angle adjustment a bit cumbersome with the quarter turn lock and the dowel opening a bit large allowing it to wander a bit if not conscious of it during each stroke. Overall it works simply and is convenient use and travel with. Great product for the price.

Some of my blades have steels like s30v and m390 which can be tough to work. I wasn't really happy with the factory edges, and wanted to hog down the back-bevels to a degree more appropriately suited to steels' abilities, as well as for my intended usage. I have DMT's 8x3 fine/extra-fine bench hone, which I like, and since I didn't want to spend too much time concentrating on the rough shaping, I decided to pick this guid up in conjunction with the extra-corse/corse DiaFold to do the heavy lifting.
The materials in this guide are good. The fiber impregnated plastic is very tough. The stone holder is pretty solid, I really like the magnetic design. The magnet is very strong. I can't be sure, but it certainly feels like rare-earth. It holds the Diafold very well. This, of course, means that it also holds the swarf like a jealous ape. A note of caution here: Swarf from diamond tools contains diamonds; diamonds are hard and will scratch just about everything. If at any point you should wipe the swarf with a rag, DO NOT then wipe anything that you do not want scratched with that rag. My blades are working blades, so the odd scratch doesn't bother me, but if you're a knife collector, consider yourself warned about swarf with diamonds in it.
Now, some negatives. The brass sleeve used to hold the jaws together sits proud of the jaw on one side. You may need to hit it with a file - as I did - in order to use the most acute angle setting. It's soft brass, so that's not a tough job, maybe two minutes; easy work. On the opposite side, the plastic knob used to clamp the blade ALSO gets in the way, irk. To address this problem I'll probably be cutting the screw down an 1/8" (3mm) or so. The adjustable guides could be a little better as they seem to twist; threatening to come out of their indexes. They haven't come out completely yet, so this isn't a huge problem, just a concern.
Pros:
Good materials and build at this price-point
Reasonably consistent accuracy
US made
Cons:
Design; may require End-User modification; loose guide indices
I could do with one finer setting, so I can get down under 20* (included)
The Bottom Line:
It's not an Edge Pro, but it's gets the jobs I want done, and for heck of a lot less. A good buy.

Gets the job done

I use this with the DMT folding diamond sharpeners and have the full range from Extra Coarse to Extra Extra fine. While I'm able to get my knifes sharp enough to shave without this accessory, it's much easier with. I now get a repeatable angle through the entire length of the blade.
Build quality feels a little cheap being made of plastic, but it looks like it should hold up to normal use just fine. It's easy to secure your knife to and does exactly what it was designed for.

The accessory kit works very well with the DMT diamond sharpening stones to maintain a precise angle on the knife blade. The holder is a hard, rigid plastic material. I must say I'm a bit concerned about it's longevity, but I've sharpened about a dozen knives so far and there's no indication it will give out. One plus of the plastic is it won't mar the blade. Another similar device I had previously was all metal and you had to be careful not the scratch the blade. The magnetic rod attaches firmly to the sharpening stone. All in all, this is a worthy addition to your sharpening tool kit if you already have one of the compatible DMT sharpening stones.
Missing parts. So apparently, this is still happening. Update...

For now, it's getting one star since it arrived with half the clamp missing. I'll try again and update the review once I've received the whole thing.
I've read about those missing parts but thought it would've been a thing of the past by now. Looks like someone is maybe trying to get to those bags without opening them and steals those parts(?) My bag was slightly torn on one side but still kind of sealed. Just a thought.
Update:
Second time's the charm. At least in this case. I got everything in the second bag. The whole contraption seems to work reasonably well. However, the system relies on a rather small magnet holding a diamond plate over a relatively small surface area. As a result, the plate may, and sometime does, disengage if you apply too much force. That said, it is still faster and safer for your fingers and knife blades than the lansky system.
The only real issue with this system is the fact that the clamp won't take certain blades (quite a few actually) at the lowest setting (my favorite, sharpest angle - 16/17 degrees) without getting in the way. Here's where the lansky clamp is a lot better so I ended up creating a hybrid since the crucial parts are mutually compatible.
