Slightly changed from of old.

This item is a replacement for a same-brand predecessor that served marvelously in daily use for many years before finally starting to lose its non-stick feature.
The new item is somewhat lighter than the original, lacking a bit of a rim that the old one had without giving up any interior space. The non-stick coating looks different too, but so far functions perfectly. It remains to be seen whether it will be as durable than the old coating.
Also I note that the heat control is differently calibrated, and needs to be set nearly 50 degrees higher to get the same cooking effect.
All that said, the new device is working with complete satisfaction up to this point, so if it proves as durable as the old one did, I will owe it another rating star.

Dies its job.

Our stove was out of commission for six weeks (!). Might sound like "˜oh boy no cooking!' but it was awful. Fortunately we have a nice toaster oven and I wanted eggs and grilled sandwiches and fried veggies and so I decided to get an electric skillet and I love it. Stove is finally fixed but the skillet stays out right next to it. Plus - far easier to clean than a normal skillet.
Professional Quality Skillet

I have had 3 Presto electric skillets over 20+ years. I have always been happy with them but when I bought this Cucina Pro electric skillet, it was definitely an upgrade. The things I like most are:
1) the Cucina skillet is stainless steel and has a heavy bottom, which holds the heat to keep food warm and cooks more evenly. The Presto has a thinner aluminum bottom and wall so there's more fluctuation in heat.
2) The Cucina is about 1-1/2 inches deep (the Presto is 2-1/2 inches deep), so it feels easier to clean, even though the Cucina is heavier than the Presto.
3) The Cucina is worthy of serving in - it's very attractive. The temperature control and cord comes out and the place where the temperature control plug goes into the skillet is hardly noticeable when placed on the table.
4) The Cucina has rubber feet, so it doesn't slip across the counter when you're flipping food. This is a huge plus for me. The Presto has plastic legs with no grip, so the skillet moves when you're stirring or flipping. The Presto legs unscrew if you want to put the skillet in the dishwasher. I have never done that and found that I have spent a lot of time tightening the legs on the Presto because they loosen up with use.
5) The Cucina feels like a professional cooking item. The edges on the top of the pan are rolled and the coating seems substantial. With the Presto, the edges are not rolled and feels less "finished".
6) Both lids are glass and well made, but the Cucina has a vent hole in the lid that seems to be a good feature.
The things I like about the Presto are that there are no rivets or screws inside the skillet. The handles are part of the base, so the Presto handles aren't attached to the skillet. But the Cucina is so attractive with the stainless steel handles and it's still easy to clean, so not a big deal.
Another thing is the temperature control that plugs into the skillet. The dial on the Presto is large and easy to read at a glance. The Cucina is a smaller dial and the print is smaller. Again, not a deal breaker.
The Cucina is 12" round and the Presto is 12" square - that's a push for me, but may be an important factor for others. And considering that the Presto is 1" taller (1'1/2" vs. 2-1/2"), the Presto would logically hold more food.
The Presto has a spout on one corner for pouring off liquids, bacon grease, etc. The Cucina does not have that feature. Again, it may be important when you're considering your options.
All in all, I am very pleased with the new skillet. I use an electric skillet daily, so I sure hope the Cucina holds up like the Presto ones have.

An absolutely wonderful electric frypan!

The photo is accurate. This is a wonderful frypan!! It cooks evenly edge to edge, has a great, beautiful glass top with a metal edge and a vent, its thermostat-controlled temperature is uniform edge to edge, and its nonstick surface is sturdy. We have used it almost daily for months; the nonstick surface still looks brand new with neither stains nor chips, and boy does it work! Egg-battered, floured, panko-fried chicken comes out perfect every time; just after it's out of the pan, a squirt of liquid detergent and a fill of water and the pan rinses clean later with swipes of a paper towel by this writer. Buy this now. Only joy, no regrets!!
Main pan for our meals

Even cooking, no hotspots.
We started using an electric skillet when we lost our kitchen cooking capabilities to hurricane AN. We bought a very inexpensive one initially and enjoyed doing one pot dinners that we decided to look for something a little bit more substantial along with even cooking and temperature control. This product met our expectations and look forward to long use with it very well-made
