We adopted a poodle who is diabetic. We knew nothing about the disease. By taking her blood glucose at home, we are able to see how excercise, food and stress affects her. It is a lot better than taking her to the vet and paying to have them do the same test that we can now do at home.

Good price, easy to use instructions. Included in the box: a glucose meter for either cat/dog, 2 coding chips included to use for cat or dog, box of 25 test strips, control solution for coding chosen dog/cat chip, lancecets, lancing tool, logbook and full instructions. The instructions are clear and complete. Choose either the cat or dog coding chip to insert into the meter, ensure code is matched to your test strip vial and use control solution before starting and when you buy more test strips which always come with the according new dog or cat coding chips. This control solution step is only necessary for calibration to cat/dog chip to match to the code on the test strip vial. For regular use on your pet, you can use the tool with test strip inserted, or use the lancecet alone which may be easier on your pet. I was new to testing my cat's glucose and giving the according insulin shots twice daily, and found the meter easy to use and accurate; also it stores the last 20 or so readings taken for your comparison across days. The lancing was the only difficult part simply because most pets do not like it, so use the thinnest lancecets you can find at any drugstore where insulin supplies are sold. You will need to purchase more test strips with code chip included when you run low.
The kitty never objected to the insulin shots themselves and the glucose meter kit was a necessity for twice daily testing.

Very easy to use for experienced diabetics and for those without any training in diabetes management.
We will continue to purchase and use them.

I have a diabetic cat but lately her blood sugar has been running low so this is a great way to check her sugar so I know if I need to give her insulin that day.
