It's plastic.... in an effort to eliminate extra counter clutter by keeping this on the stove like most spoon rests, it will have to hangout next to my butter dish to avoid melting. Color is nice. Size is small. Would be perfect if it was ceramic especially considering the price. Way overpriced for a small plastic spoon rest.

Not what I expected. I didn't expect it to be plastic. However the turquoise color was perfect so I decided to keep it and give it a try. It looks good and serves its purpose for apartment living. It keeps my stove clean, utensils rest comfortably and neatly on this, and it hand washes well. I haven't had any issues with fading color or melting. I wish it was melamine like I thought but I'll live :-)

This is a thin piece of plastic junk. I thought it was made of ceramic. Who has ever heard of a thin plastic spoon setter. Don't waste your money. I shouldn't of been lazy and driven over to that place where they sell sheets, blankets, silverware. Even thought this item is only $6.50, I will be sending it back because of the principal of the thing.
If you need to use it for large spoons, forget it!

I've been on the hunt for a nice red spoon rest, and sadly the search continues. I liked the idea of it, but the description and the entire purpose is really inaccurate: you can only set the smallest of spoons on it. It holds a teaspoon just fine-- spoon part rests in the round area of the item, while the handle can sit on the handle. If that's what you want it for-- great! (Although it's a bit bulky looking if so.) But if you use a large spoon, like for stirring or serving, there's no way this works well. The arch of the handle on this spoon rest is very high, so if you try to put a spoon on it, the handle slides right off! You can only use it if you turn the spoon upside down, and even then it won't rest more than half the spoon in the round part, so whatever you're stirring drips onto the counter or stove. Poor design. All that it would take to make it a winner is to lower the arch of the handle.

These spoon rests are a bit smaller than most. They serve my needs well since they are used to hold a spoon for stirring coffee. They are fine for a regular size spoon but are too small for large utensils that one might use while cooking. Since they are plastic they won't chip or break and i already washed one in the dshwasher and it did fine. Perfect for my needs and I love the color.
