My fiancé and I just bought our first home and the tub had no shower. This is our temporary solution to our 80+ year old bathtub until we get around to remodeling the bathroom. We just wanted to be able to shower for now. The rod is holding up nicely even with a heavy 180" x 70" shower curtain. It doesn't seem to need a ceiling support, at least for us. We have plaster walls and bought some heavy duty anchors. All went well, except the tiny screws in the rectangle flanges broke extremely easily and we had to go out in the middle of putting it up and buy screws to fit in there. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and if you know what you're doing this is a very nice shower rod.
