Super simple coverage for simple cheap
Devlin•April 16, 2017
I got this for a great deal (I think it's always pretty cheap) and it's pretty large. It covers from my Lee reloading press for a couple feet where I keep my powder scare and thrower. I also use it to keep bullet lube off a nice desk my wife made (she's awesome).
This feels like it is a simple product and it is for all intents and purposes. It also does have a plastic type backing that prevents oil (or Alox) to seep past it. It stays in place for me and helps keep stuff from bouncing around (like if building an upper).
Great item for a great hobby

Nothing to get excited about, but nothing to be all that upset about...

Ehh, you get what you pay for and you certainly don't pay much for this mat. I was expecting something more like a Tekmat (if you don't know what a Tekmat is, think mouse pad), but plain and in green. What I got was basically a piece of green felt with a clear plastic backing that is marginally thicker than Saran Wrap. Again though, I guess I got what I paid for, just wish I'd saved the money and put it towards a higher quality mat.
Glad I picked this up..

Hoppe's gun cleaning mat is perfect for laying out all the pieces when you're cleaning your gun, the mat is soft so as not to scratch your guns. Makes it easy to have a serf ace to lay your gun on and not worry about getting solvent or oil on your table or work surface. Glad I picked this up.
Good until you stick in in the wash

Initially I really liked this cleaning pad and thought that it would be put to good use. I used it to clean a few guns and tossed it in the wash as it said it was safe to wash and then line dry. After being in the washer, the plastic backing was peeling off and the felt was no longer smooth, strands of it were all balled up and sticking to everything.
I have buyers remorse...........

The backing is clear thin plastic barely thicker than Syran wrap. It is peeling back and away from the green felt-like material, and I haven't even used it yet. I cannot imagine this making it through a wash with the plastic backing intact.
This would be fine as a $3.99 item to use a bit and throw away. Bit surprised Hoppe's put their name on this as their cleaning products are good.
Spend another $11 bucks to total $18 and get the nice rubber backed, THICK, non-skid AR Tek Mat with the AR schematics printed on the surface.
