The kit got here, I put it in recommended locations in my home. 92 days later, I collected them and mailed them in, and within a few days had my test results. Easy, economical, and well worth it. Local firms wanted $250 to do it.

I have used this Radon testing device before and it seems to be quite effective in capturing information over a longer period of time.
Great for monitoring radon

We had radon issues before I patched some open places in the basement floor. For the past several years, I have done long-term tests during the time the furnace is on and the house closed up (we live in Wisconsin). Pros: I am comfortable with the results. This long term test is more accurate. Results from a pro would not be more reliable. The test analysis method they use seems the most appropriate. The process of using the little canisters is straight forward. Cost is reasonable. The big consumer organization has rated it best. The company is good to deal with. Con: it can take a while to get results (it's a long-term test, isn't it).

This is an important issue for us. We had a couple of friends pass away before their time -- we suspect their house had undetected radon.
So far, so good...

Can't tell you what the test results look like since I'm only 3 weeks into a 90 day test. But my initial impression is favorable, received the kit promptly, and the instructions were specific and clear. I went with this particular kit because it is #1 rated by leading consumer magazine and was also specifically recommended by a home inspector I met who performs 500 real estate home inspections per year. I wanted to hire him to use his 48 hour digital test equipment in my home and he advised that my money would be better spent on this 90 day kit since I am not under time constraints for the results. He also suggested that I place one device in the basement rec room where we spend a fair amount of time, and the other device in the first floor master bedroom (ranch home with basement). Those 2 locations are on opposite ends of the house as well. I'll try to remember to update this review after the conclusion of the test period.
