The Backlight Isn't Visible in Bright Conditions. It's Great in the Dark!

First, a confession: I returned two of these to Amazon because they sent me the wrong one - the 2500 instead of the 2500NV. The box said a 2500NV was inside, but neither of them had working backlights.
I was wrong.
The backlight on the 2500NV is *not visible* in a well-lit room or outdoors during daylight! It is only visible in a dark environment. I finally checked my newest one (purchased directly through Kestrel) in a dark room, eh Voila! Backlight!!
I feel like a complete idiot, and I apologize to Amazon for the snippy comment I wrote in my last Product Return.
As far as the unit goes, I couldn't be happier. It is well-built, easy to calibrate, and easy to use, with lots of features. I highly recommend it to anyone who's in the market for a pocket weather meter that won't break the bank.

This unit works as advertised. It does appear to be fairly sensitive. When moving it from shade to sun a distance of 6 inches the temperature very quickly begins to adjust. The altimeter is linked with the barometer so you will need to find some standard data. That being said the altimeter/barometer is much more sensitive than say a unit on a Suunto watch. I like the amount of info it gave; the top speed, present, and average for wind; and the unit is compact.

love this unit! use it backpacking, hiking and car camping. just used it on a 5 week vacation in alaska in all kinds of conditions and it was great to have this unit with all its options and know what was going on with the conditions at the moment - battery life was good only had to change out the battery once and that was toward the end of the trip and this unit was on all the time and in below freezing conditions - was fun to play with all the wind speed options also - found that the barametor worked well also - again love this unit
