My mom and stepfather love to play cards with each other in the evening, but they usually stick to standard games played with 1 or more traditional 52-card decks. Our family plays the Nancy Drew adventure games from time to time, and we recently encountered the Italian Scopa card game and couldn't help thinking that other members of my family could enjoy it too. I picked this deck of cards up as a Christmas present and chose it over the other Scopa decks offered by the same company because it also includes instructions for Briscola.

In terms of quality, these cards have a very attractive design and the glossiness you would expect from almost any new deck of cards.

Depending on your (or the gift recipient's) familiarity with card games, you may want to print out a separate, larger instruction sheet for them to read and get familiarized with the game. For obvious reasons, the instructions are squeezed onto the front of one playing card size sheet and could be a bit muddlesome for one who doesn't pick up new card playing variations easily.

Briscola is a fun and attentive game.
