Great levers

These work great for a cable actuated brake. I have them hooked up to dual pivot road calipers and absolutely no issues. Unless I was running hydraulic disk brakes, I will use these every time for the pice.
Great entry level brake levers

Great entry level brake levers. I just installed them on my 2006 Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disc rebuild. They look and work great.
Best levers for cable-actuated brakes for MTBs period

Best levers for cable-actuated brakes for MTBs period. Can't be beaten for the price. I've been running FR-5's with BB7's for a decade and have zero complaints.
Big Improvement

These levers work good with mechanical disc brakes. Eventually I plan on going to hydraulic discs but can't justify the upgrade just yet. I needed new shifters and my old ones were integrated with the brake levers leaving few options for shifters, most of which I wasn't happy with. These levers got me away from fully integrated levers but allowed me to keep my mechanical disc brakes for now. The levers are high quality and offer a good feeling with or without gloves. I can easily do 1 finger braking. The barrel adjusters work much better than the old low end Shimano's I had before. If you are looking for a brake lever for mechanical disc brakes these are recommended. I would assume they would work just as well on rim brakes but I haven't used them for that purpose.
these are 100% identical to the sram via gt levers ...

these are 100% identical to the sram via gt levers with a different paint job. "Avid" logo is no longer molded into frame, it's just painted on. So if you want these, get the sram levers and save a few dollars. and i mean 100% the same product. the sram levers even come with avid paperwork.
