like most Wixey stuff

Again, like most Wixey stuff. Pretty good accuracy. If your a caliper woodworker it'll work. If your looking for start-up consistency maybe look at more expensive options. For me, I'm still getting use to it and very pleased so far. but there's several times when the fence measurement is irrelevant. like jig cutting or certain saftey block fence cuts. For standard rip fence operation off the fence your best cutting a test piece, check with a caliper and dial in the readout. Then go from there. Just seems I need to re calibrate quite a bit. Also sorta difficult if you measuring kerf inside cuts. But very very convienient to not have to get right down there on the blade with your starrett rule every time you setup a cut. So for that you gotta give it credit
put mine on a 5hp Sawstop ICS and it was a relatively painless install. Give yourself maybe a hour or so to get it on.

After reading reviews on this product indicating difficulty with installation and problems with accuracy, I was a little worried that I might have to return it. I have had a Wixey Digital Caliper for several years and I have found it to be very accurate and reliable so I had high hopes for this saw fence digital readout. Recently I had installed a Vega fence on my Sawstop contractor saw with good results although I was not very impressed with the graticule on the fence head. It is located fairly high above the inch scale which leads to inaccuracy causing frequent use of a tape measure to set the saw up for an accurate cut. I was pretty sure the Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout (WSFDR) would solve the problem and indeed it does. It took me about an hour to install mostly because I have a tendency to work slowly being retired and all. After I got it installed and calibrated, I was delighted to see that it was dead on accurate. I kept checking it against my tape measure and I finally stopped using the tape and trusted the WSFDR. Now, after a month of repeated use, I rely on the WSFDR exclusively and I am very happy with the accuracy and repeatability. I just finished building pull out trays for our kitchen cupboards and each tray is perfectly square. A couple of times I had to go back and rip additional plywood pieces. Setting the WSFDR to the previous setting resulted in pieces that were identical in size to the pieces that I cut originally. Installation was pretty easy. I spent a fair amount of time just staring at the parts and reading the installation instructions several times. I also found a helpful FAQ on Wixey's web site. Doing this allowed me to consider different installation plans. I finally settles on the simplest way utilizing existing hardware and brackets as much as possible. I ended up drilling one hole in what fence head to mount the steel strap the WSFDR magnet sticks to. This is because the head is aluminum. Otherwise, I my case, no other drilling was necessary. As far as value, that is up to you to decide. These tired old eyes really appreciate the accuracy and ease of use. It is faster to view the digital display than to try to line up a thin line over an inch scale then use a steel tape to verify the measurement.
Free Dust Collector Included

I just installed it so I can not speak to long term use. I bought it to replace a Accurate system which stopped working. The Wixey is about a third the price and comparing might not be totally fair. The Accurarate is definitly more industrial and fitting for the Delta 12/14 saw that I have. With that said, the installation instructions could be better, but on the plus side all the parts were there including drill bits and screws. The fact that it connects to the fence with a magnet is a plus in that the fence can be easily removed and replaced without affect the read head. It seems to work as discribed. On the down side the read rail sticks out past the fence rail to collect dust, hence the free dust collector. The scale is exposed to damage on ther vertical face sticking out past the fence rail., The Accurate mounts underneath and is protected and free of dust. The display of the Accurate is larger and turns on when the fence is moved which the Wexey does not. Overall I would have to call it a good unit for the money. It could be great with a few design changes.

This is exactly what I wanted.
It work excellent.
I installed on a grizzly table saw with a shop fox classic fence.
As another reviewer said - This bolted directly on with zero modification.
No hole drilling or bending of any brackets.
It is like it was made for this fence.
Pushed the fence against the blade to zero and moved the fence to 1" using the readout. Made a cut.
Perfect. absolutely perfect on the very first try.
I am very pleased and I look forward to seeing how it lasts in the long run.

This works well, but the magnet isn't strong enough to always keep the unit attached to the fence. Easy to zero out and makes cutting to the 1/64" very simple. readout is easy to read. The top screen is very delicate so be sure not to accidentally poke it or press the face.
