Who would have thought that a UV light would ever wear out? Not me!
BC SmithOctober 7, 2017
Got 3 of these in September of 2011. Worked okay enough at first, but then gradually degraded until inadequate for scorpion hunting. Of the 3 lights purchased, one was put away as a spare. That one still works pretty good. The other 2 make plenty of light, just not UV light apparently, because it no longer makes a scorpion glow like it used to. Used for just 10-15 minutes each night for 6 seasons (March thru October). Rating of 3 stars for lack of durability of UV light production. The rest of the product is very rugged and high quality, but without the UV, it's useless.
Great for glow in the dark children's toys/costumes
B.LudaDecember 6, 2016
We used this to illuminate our son's Halloween Jellyfish costume. It worked perfectly for walking alongside him- 6-10feet away it still charged the glow-in-the-dark paint applied to the costume (aka Bioluminescense)! We received many compliments on creativity. Now we use it nightly to charge the stars on our son's bedroom ceiling before bedtime! It brightens the glowing stars and they hold their "glow" MUCH longer using this flashlight vs. using room lights. Neat to keep around for future uses...
Great for spotting pet accidents
S. M. BakerFebruary 22, 2016
Be warned. If you have pets and you buy this thing and shine it on the floor, you'll see things you wish you didn't know about.

With two dogs and a cat, I'm often concerned there might be an undetected accident on the floor. This light aids in finding such spots. It's also fun to play with, shining it at various objects to see what glows. Plus, you can take it out at night and look for bugs. I had the option to buy this one, or one with fewer LEDs for five bucks less. I opted for this one, bigger is better, and it takes AA batteries, which I have plenty of rechargeables.
Fantastic, this is the only one to buy!

I've had cheaper, smaller LED UV lights, as well as the older style (before the "LED flashlight revolution") with a 6'" fluorescent bulb in a holder. Each time I wondered what the fuss was about--it was hard to see anything on the floor even when I looked where I knew there were pet stains (darn cats!). This flashlight is a revelation. It works wonderfully. Just don't take it to a motel or you will be horrified.

To make this work even better, I recommend the Uvex S0360X Ultra-spec 2000 Safety Eyewear, Orange Frame, SCT-Orange UV Extreme Anti-Fog Lens which protects your eyes from the UV and makes the spots that glow in the UV light show up even more clearly.
Heavy, good quality

I bought this to replace the LED blacklight that came with the "#1 UV Blacklight Cat Dog Urine Detector Kit (21 LED UV Black Light, Batteries, UV Glasses, Guide)," which was flimsy from the start and broke a few months after I purchased it.
This is a much better quality light than the last one I had; it's larger, heavier, and has a better design in terms of the power button and battery compartment. It works well to detect pet stains, but works best in the dark. Although it's not necessary, I recommend using UV glasses. Some of my carpets have fibers that fluoresce making it harder to identify stains. The glasses help to make the stains glow brighter, and it's kinda fun to play CSI.
It's been my experience that no matter how well or how many times I clean a stain it will still fluoresce, but not as brightly as a fresh/untreated stain. It's gross, but I'm told my house doesn't smell...I'm paranoid I've gone nose blind to it.
