Durable and functional, and you can still hear the footsteps of creeping zombies sneaking up behind you

These are a terrific value, and do what they're supposed to do. I've had these for over two years now and they aren't showing any significant wear or degradation in function. It took me a good hour or so to adjust to being able to hear normal conversation twenty feet behind me and having gunfire muted to a comfortable level. They're also comfy to wear for long sessions.
I also like that you can supplement these by wearing them over basic foam in-ear plugs for those times when the guy next to you at the range decides to bring his Howitzer. These have served my hearing quite well, though that comes with the drawback of not being able to claim hearing loss when the honey-do list starts getting read off to you on a Saturday morning. They also fit fat heads, but don't do anything to drain the hot air that fills said fat head.

Good electronic ear protection that works

The wife and I shoot at an indoor range. It can get quite loud in there especially when someone is shooting a high powered rifle. I purchased these for her. She liked the color. They do what they say they can do. When the sound gets loud they cut it off at an acceptable level. When the sound is not loud you can hear people around you speaking at normal sound levels. If you crank them up you have super hearing. They are light weight and relatively comfortable to wear. The battery life is good and they take standard AAA batteries. I chose this model vs the higher db model because of the slimmer profile. The thicker higher db attenuation model is thicker and gets in the way when you shoot a rifle. I am happy with this purchase. I would buy them again. Oh right, I did. I purchased a pair for myself in olive drab.
Basic amplified ear protection.

These are basic amplified ear protection. Volume scales nicely with only a bit of static at very high volume settings. There is some reduction in spatial sensing left-right to where sound is coming from but that can be expected. You can still tell where sounds come from for the most part. Simple to use and comfortable enough for an hour or two.
Taking the battery cover off can be tricky sometimes.
I have two of these sets now and use them almost exclusively for shooting. Got the second set on sale after using the first a year. They make it a much simpler matter to stay safe with inexperienced shooters around you and maintain clear communication. For long usage they might be uncomfortable (especially along with eye protection) but they are about as comfortable as non-amplified ear protection. For extremely loud environments consider using foam ear-plugs under these.

Excellent quality and best sound reproduction

I have purchased 3 sets of these Howard Leight ear muffs. I have tried many different kinds and brands and these are by far not the best at overall noise reduction at only 22db rated noise reduction. So for indoor shooting around large caliber handguns and rifles, these may not provide enough hearing protection without adding some ear plugs. With that said, I purchased these for outdoor use in which they are perfect. But what I like most about them and why i purchased 3 sets of them is because of the quality the sound amplification they produce. The sound reproduction is the closest to real life sound and is also in stereo sound you can interpret where a sound is actually coming from. A cool feature is when your down range changing targets, you can speak to someone back on the firing line up to 100yds away and you can hear them with your hearing protection on!
Overall, if you are looking for a great pair of sound reducing ear muffs for outdoor use, I would highly recommend these to you.

Protection not consistent, audio sounds great

I like the compact size, but it doesn't feel like there's great ear coverage (or the padding is too stiff and not really conforming to the area around my ears), and I'm just an average sized person with average sized ears. I notice that there's little protection based on the angle at which I'm facing the source of the sound. This is frustrating to use at the range where there are lots of people in lanes to my left and right, and the protection sounds inconsistent.
I love the microphone and volume control. Noise reduction is decent at the indoor range. The sound quality is amazing, sounds are clear and ambient, doesn't sound like the source is millimeters from your eardrum. The volume control on the headset is for the microphone on the headset, and does not control the volume of a music device you attach. The volume of an attached music device is controlled by the music device only remains constant if you adjust the headset's volume control, which is nice.
