I do a lot of wood carving (caricature, ornaments, and stuff...). I use FlexCut, Morakniv, Ramelson, Robert Sorby, and other carving brands. I was quite surprised of the quality of the Power Grip brand. The blades are sturdy and sharp. They maintain an edge for a very long time. A leather strope and compound (green is usually good enough). I find that they also sharpen easily. The handles are very comfortable and they do not roll around like some brands. I believe that beginners should always start with quality, affordable knives. These knives are good for all levels of carvers. This set also comes with a nice plastic case that when opened raises the handles for easy access.

I'm new to blockprinting but I wanted to start with good tools and these are a cheaper option for beginners. They are really sharp and fits good in my hand. I like that they come with a box to store them. I totally recommend this product!

These are some pretty damn good carving tools. Be careful with your knife, though, because if you snap the tip off by twisting it in your cut you'll have to pay a third to half the price of the set to buy another one individually!
