All around amazing bread knife

What a great knife, and what a great price! I recently starting baking no-knead bread, which has a thick, crackly crust. The only knives I had that were suitable for cutting the loaves were an effectively non-functional cheap ikea bread knife and a tomato knife which I didn't want to destroy on crust bread. The tomato knife got the job done but had deep serated teeth which made the knife difficult to work with and had a hard time cutting cleanly through the crust. I bought this specifically to cut those loaves because of the amazing reviews, and I'm glad to say it 100% lives up to what everyone else here is reporting. It cuts cleanly through the crust and crumb, giving clean, even slices. No more mangled bread that I can't even fit in a toaster! I was especially impressed with how quickly and easily it sliced through the thick crust on the bottom of the loaf. I'm honestly amazed I could get a knife like this for around $15. And now I can save my tomato knife for tomatoes, so I can have beautiful tomato slices to put on my beautiful bread slices!
Be careful not to slice your finger!!!

This knife is a joy to slice hard crusted artisan breads with; fast, accurate, unwavering and smooth, generating few crumbs! The bad: packaging is such that a mightily sticky tape holds the wood grip in the package box and I cut myself trying to get it out. Thankfully, despite the cut being so deep, the sharp cut healed within a few days. Be super careful taking the knife out of the box. This knife would get 5 stars if it cam shipped in a protective sheath, not only for removing from package, but for storage.

I thought this knife would be excellent. Very good reviews. And while it does slice bread somewhat well, it dulls a but rather quickly. Also, for a strict bread knife, you'd be much better off with one with an offset blade, one where the blade jogs down from the handle. I sliced a piece of bread, placed the knife down on my wood cutting block, and the end caught the wood. As there is a completely inferior and way too small bump out where the handle meets the blade, my hand slid down and I cut my finger.

Tee Hee....I LOVE this knife. I make my own no-knead crusty bread and can cut beautiful slices straight out of the oven. Like 1/8 inch beautiful slices with the insides still steaming and before the crust has hardened up. My daughter (15) had a friend over and had to "show off" Dad's cool Japanese bread knife.

This knife is AMAZING! Just go ahead and buy it.
For more than just cutting perfect slices of bread!!

Extremely sharp knife, be careful! I'm used to my old dull bread knife and ended up cutting my finger good. With that said this knife can be used for more than just bread. Great for carving meat and vegetables too! I bought it specifically for bread initially. I've started baking my everyday wheat bread rather than spending a lot of money at the store for one. My old bread knife didn't "cut" it when it came to slicing my loaves. It would tear the bread rather than slice, which meant I could only cut thick slices. This knife on the other-hand allows me to neatly cut thin slices similar to the thickness of the store bought bread. Awesome sharp knife at a great value!
