Does the job at an inexpensive price. They are not the sturdiest umbrellas, but so cheap that it doesn't matter. Fantastic first lighting modifier.

I picked two of these up as a cheap umbrella to use when I'm shooting outside. After using them for two shoots, they have held up just fine. The only downside is that the fabric isn't exactly the same in color. I had planned on exchanging it for a different one, but the price doubled on amazon and amazon wouldn't let me exchange...only return. So I am hanging on to it and for 14 dollars, it's fine.

It does what it is supposed to do. It's not the most industrial-strength umbrella I've ever seen, but then again it spends 90% of its life stuck to a strobe flash, not battling hurricanes. If you are a professional photographer who can afford more expensive equipment, you may want to opt for a big softbox or something. But if you are a hobbyist or part-timer, this will suit your purposes just fine and at a price point you can't really complain with.
I don't see any difference between this umbrella and the $40-50 umbrella's other than the brand name.

The build quality is pretty much on point with any of the other name brand umbrella's that I own, and the light quality seems nice. This is a piece of photography related equipment that doesn't take up much space and you can never have too many of them just in case you have one break or get lost. Cowboy Studio products seem fairly hit or miss in terms of quality, but this one was a hit for me.
