Have they changed the filter material?
D. Janson✓ Verified Purchase•February 24, 2018
We were getting great results and thinking of a 5 star rating - then the filter material seems to have changed. We have a subscription order for these filters and at one point the filter material seems to have changed and gotten thicker and with a different texture. This threw off our rather carefully calibrated pour over process. I am not sure if this is a permanent change, or a temporary variation. I looked over the packaging careful trying to see if a different product had been shipped by mistake (or maybe a counterfeit substituted somehow) but I cannot see any labeling difference. A bit of a mystery.
wait, what?! you're crushing my world!!! um, never mind...

initially i was a bit alarmed at the changes in these filters from my last order (sub&save 200 every 6mo). the tab is the most obvious difference as well as a slight difference in the seam. when you use them, you notice that the inner surface of the filter is very smooth and sheds water somewhat like a freshly waxed car. it is not as absorbent to water and also probably will not suck up as much coffee flavor as the old ones did. since they were different, of course i thought they were fakes, that i had been had, and that my world was collapsing around me--as one will do. after some searching, i found that indeed, many have noticed these changes. i also found out that yes, they have changed the product. in use, i have found that yes, these are filters--water flows through them and they make a good cup. you may have to make a slight adjustment to your brewing procedure. slight. nothing to worry about. the filters indirectly made my coffee better, because i think my technique/recipe improved because of the research i did. never hurts to brush up every year or so.
Whats the actual deal ?

I'm confused as to why these filters have changed . I've been usiing these V60 filters for years . But the most recent filters I purchased aren't the same . Not only did they take 2 weeks to get here even tho they were sold as in stock prime items . They are super hard and non absorbent it's almost a cardboard like texture . I'm actually extremely dissatisfied !
Different product than ordered

This is my second time ordering this exact product on Amazon, and for some reason this second product is nothing like what I received the first time. These filters are harder, don't absorb the water, and feel like cardboard paper instead of the cloth-like feel of the previous ones. I will be contacting Amazon for a refund.
I posted a pic as well, showing the original product at top, and the new filters at bottom. You can see that the water doesn't even penetrate the filter all the way, like the top one does.

Strong, unbleached, good drip rate. Confirm your dripper shape style matches pointed bottom (not flat).

There are two styles of drippers, so be sure you select the right type of filter to match. Look at the Hario style dripper versus Melita as an example. I use a true pointed cone style, as opposed to the "cone" style that has a flat (straight edge) flat bottom. I use three of these a day and I find them to work extremely well. Unbleached to avoid the residual chemicals from bleaching process in my coffee, which do change the flavor. The are very strong and do not disintegrate easily so can move them to the compost bin easily with no concern it will fall apart. I cannot find this style of drip paper filters in my local store so consider when buying your dripper. Size 1 is adequate for single serving pour (1-2 tbls ground coffee max) but does not extend to the top of the dripper container. Size 2 reaches about 1.5" above the dripper container.
