I've used this for interior shelving and cletes for closet shelves along with small brads from a nail gun. It's been over 10 years now and I don't see any movement or separation from the painted drywall surface that I applied the liquid nails on. It is slow to dry, so shoot a few brads if you can or tape it up for a day or two. There probably are better adhesives but they dry quick and aren't very forgiving if you have to make some minor adjustments.
