Not exactly what I wanted.

It appears that I am in the minority of King Crimson fans. I thought, and continue to think, that their best albums came in the early 80's--Discipline, Beat, and Three of Perfect Pair. This collection, which has but a single song from these albums (an astonishing solo accoustic rendition of Three of a Perfect Pair by Adrian Belew), underscores the relative weakness of Crimson's recent offerings--at least to my ears. They've veered towards too much cacophany for me. I still like it, don't get me wrong. And the performances are astonishing. These may be the most talented musicians around. But I started longing for renditions of the songs I really liked--from Matte Kudasai to Man With an Open Heart to Thela Hun Gingeet--and which I'd been fortunate enough to see performed live several times. Ahh, those were the days.
Still, I like this DVD. Any Crimson is better than none at all. And one note: Even though the set is called "Eyes Wide Open," that song (which I really like) isn't even included. Of course, I ordered it from a site (hint, hint: This one.) that didn't list the tracks, so it came as a bit of a surprise and a disappointment.
Good bargain

A great couple of shows by King Crimson. Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew are very talented guitarists. Video quality is acceptable, with good camera angles and close-ups. Sound is very good. Good buy for any Crimson fan.
A really awesome experience

This DVD captures what Crimson was in The ConstruKction of Light and Power to Believe era.
The first disc is incredible in every aspect it doesn't have the classics hits (Larks', Red, some funny stuff from the 80's, Dinosaur, etc. you can find them in their bests versions in DejaVroom). Anyway it includes some new stuff and that's amazing, it helps you understand the new King Crimson better if you are still stuck on Three of a Perfect Pair.
The second dvd is a bootleg-quality one but it has a really cool feature, every time you play it you'll have a different set list since it will automatically sort random improv between the regular songs (here you have some of the classics).
A MUST have for every Crimson fan but mainly a REALLY-MUST have for Crimson fans that are kind of disliking the new stuff, watch it and study it a couple of times. You'll Love it.
The Power To Believe

The Power To Believe is one of the great King Crimson albums (on a par with Court of the Crimson King, Larks' Tongues, Red, and Discipline), and the tour that followed its release featured an extraordinarily powerful band playing at its peak. Both discs of this DVD set are worth watching over and over again, but the 2003 concert is a masterpiece -- immense music, unique yet accessible, timeless and immediate.
Crimson great; DVD okay

This DVD has two excellent Crimson concerts. The music is as interesting and brilliantly executed as you would expect. Two problems with the DVD production: One, it's often so dark, when there aren't bright lights on the band, that it begins to strain at least my old eyes. Two: the second concert (DVD 2) was filmed and produced by an outfit called BootlegTV, and that's just what it looks like. They also tried to mirror Crimson's improv by having the DVD do some sort of random jumps or something. The only effect of this is that in between songs there's a long pause that breaks the mood of the concert. Very lame. Luckily the first concert alone is worth the price.
