We do need better quality strings but once he gets better then we'll ...

I have to give it 5 star rating, my boy loves playing it as do I (although I need a bigger one). We do need better quality strings but once he gets better then we'll get him better strings. Anyhow great buy. One small issue: I couldn't keep the violin in tune, the peg kept slipping, I called Cecilio they advised me to add some rosin to the peg it self and then tune it, well that worked perfectly! Violin is still in tuning fine and no more peg slipping!
Violin does not look as good as the photo. Very misleading

Looks nothing like it does in te pictures. The wood grain does not have similar distinct stripes as the picture featured on this listing. The depth of the dark and contrast with the light shades are definatly not as beautiful as the photo. The violin sounds great. But sadly it is no where near what I expected it to look like.
Good Violin but Bad Pegs and Strings

I'm just a beginner in playing violin but I think his violin is a good one. The violin looks a bit different than the picture but it still looks very nice.
However, the strings are very flimpsy. As soon as I started to tune it the E string broke right away, even the new E string that was provided. I would recommend buying a new set of strings for this violin, like D'Addario or something similar.
The other problem that I have is that the pegs are quite hard to tune. It kept on slipping out of tune. I would recommend buying peg compound for it or buy a new set of pegs.
Other than those problem, I have nothing wrong with the violin. This is a good violin for its price. Would recommend it for beginners.

A great way to introduce yourself to a new hobby

I am genuinely blown away by the quality of this product. I am someone who was interested in learning to play the violin and did not want to spend an absurd amount of money on a hobby. That being said, the build quality of this instrument is surprisingly fantastic. You can see the stain work is a little shoddy when you look at the back of the neck, but besides that the body and head-stock are beautifully crafted. The ebony fret board is of decent quality and is very playable.
The bows that come with it are adequate and have held up to some heavy abuse from an armature like me, so I think that's a testament to the quality.
I would heavily recommend investing in a set of good quality strings, they will make the tone much better and are not as brutal on your fingertips. All in all, the strings it comes with are definitely playable and can be used without issue.
For the complete novice like me who wants to pick up something affordable to start learning I could think of nothing better, definitely a fantastic buy!

Great Beginners Violin! Good Look!

This is a great beginners violin. The flamed back piece is not quite as pronounced as the image; however, it is still quite a beautiful look for the price of a student violin. The shoulder rest is a little on the cheap side, but it works well enough for you to decide if the investment into a better quality one would be useful to you. The case is decent quality for the money. The liner slightly folds under the violin when you inserts it. This does not effect the safety of the instrument; by any means is is just a visual prefference. The sound is a sweet sound and fairly stable for someone just starting out. All around good beginners purchase. One downside is the case had a slight chemical smell upon first retrieval. I would recommend replacing the strings with better quality first thing. This would greatly impact the sound quality.
